Does anybody know Turner's status?

Post by bgsufalcon24 »

Does anybody know if Turner will be able to play against Ohio on Saturday? I haven't heard any updates on his condition recently. We're going to need him in the lineup if we want to win this one.

I agree that it is a HUGE advantage to have AT in the lineup, but (and maybe it's just the brown and orange glasses talking), I think Sheehan has the skills to run the offense. Wether or not he has the experience and mental toughness is what worries me. I'm by no means saying he should be the starter for the rest of the season, but I am saying I'm hopeful to see what he can do in a game where he isn't going in with such a huge deficit.

I did like what Sheehan was able to do once he was in the game. He seems to be able to throw the ball vertically with some precision, forcing the defense to respect the pass, opening up the running game a bit. He's a bit raw out there as a true freshman, but he's showed that he can do good things out on the field. IF Turner can't go Saturday, and Sheehan isn't starting, I'll be livid.

I thought Sheahan showed potential, too, but let's temper our expectations. Don't forget that Kent had a 21 point lead, and it made sense for them to drop back and play behind our guys anyway.

True O & B. I liked what I saw outta Sheehan as well. I want AT back asap...he looked great throwing the ball vs FIU. If he can't go, line up FB in the backfield and let Sheehan start.

Today's Blade article said he is day to day. Practiced on Sunday and GB said he looked pretty good but he isnt' sure he's ready.

Freak, I can't find that article.

I spoke with AT on Saturday Night at Coreys. He said he is pretty much pain free and that the shoulder is just weak. Don't know if that means some nerve inpringement or not, but it may be a good sign. I would think with that description the best we can hope for is day to day. Hopefully it will come around for Saturday. Believe me this guy really wants to be back in there. I think all of us want him back too.

Lets just stop running him up the middle where he has to take on linebackers all the time. And maybe he should start slipping the linebackers instead of running thru them. Save it for the next play. He doesn't need to take that kind of beating. He is just to tough of a player not too challenge them.

Thanks for posting the link. I never had any problems locating these before.

As for what Brandon said in the Article about effort. Interesting how watching the film can change opinions. Otherwise, No Comment (see my previous posts).

We need AT to get our offense in gear and to get things turned around on offense. To see us struggle on offense and score jut 3 points on our home field was something I never thought I'd see again. That was unbelievable. With a healthy AT, I think we can give Ohio a game and still make a run in the MAC. Without AT, I don't like our chances against Ohio or in most games he can't play in. That's not a knock on FB or TS because they are both good players and are going to only get better. But right now, AT is our starter for a reason, and it showed Saturday how much we missed and needed him. It was very similar to how we struggled when Omar went down, but this past Saturday, we struggled even more.

And what the heck is it ith our starting QB's and shoulder injuries? I'm still convinced that if Omar didn't get hurt last year that we would have won at least one if not both of the games we lost to WMU & Akron. Jacob's injury pretty much cost us a shot at a MAC title, and Turner's injury has certainly hurt our chances this year as well. I'm just crossing my fingers he can play against Ohio, but I have a feeling he's not going to be able to go. I hope I'm wrong.

Look for AT to get the start Saturday. He was practicing and getting most of the reps. He is wearing a brace on his shoulder but it didnt seem to bother him much. ....

If he does start, don't expect to see him running the ball alot. Hopefully he can stand in there and make some throws and let Chris/Freddie/Dan make the runs. I know Corey really wants to see him back.

Good! I don't want to see him running the ball a lot. I want to see him throwing it down field or handing it off. Maybe an ocassional run, but thats all. We need to get the focus of our offence off of stopping the QB from running all day.
