WTF is "traditions" supposed to mean? If I were out trying to be congenial towards an opponent I wouldn't be patronizing them by giving a mocking attitude towards the things they hold dear. I guess the only real traditions come from you larger schools, and us smaller ones are just stuck with our "traditions".buckeyeryn wrote:Thanks a lot everyone for the "traditions." Keep the urine coming, guys. We just had a new field installed and it needs watered, frequently!!!

I think you should read buckeyeryn's post directed towards two different camps. He wasn't mocking the traditions, but more mocking the folks who have been a bit contentious in this thread. The Niz wrote:WTF is "traditions" supposed to mean? Despite my previous sentiment, I went over to buckeyeplanet.com and they do a very nice breakdown of their next opponnent. From stats and figures to a cool look at the history of the program, if the guy who started this thread comes back you could put some info. on Doyt Perry up similar to what you had for Nile Kinnick.

I'm sorry you felt like I was patronizing this site Niz. I used the quotations marks only when referring to a few SPECIFIC "traditions."The Niz wrote:WTF is "traditions" supposed to mean? Thanks RUIT, I appreciate your kindness. I guess some guys in Bowling Green have no repsect for opponents (even female ones.)Rightupinthere wrote:I think you should read buckeyeryn's post directed towards two different camps. Thanks for dropping by for a visit! Stop by this week and engage in some rival banter. Great advice on Doyt Perry, I will certainly pass those links on to the person in charge of that portion.Dayons_Den wrote:Despite my previous sentiment, I went over to buckeyeplanet.com and they do a very nice breakdown of their next opponnent. You guys are EXTREMELY PAthetic.
You say you only hate the bad OSU fans...this guy comes over who runs a website looking for information on OSU's next opponent and you act like a bunch of friggin bitches!!
THIS is why I HATE BGSU Fans..
You have proved on this thread, that your no better than OSU fans, michigan fans, Toledo fans, Miami OH fans etc...
OSU Traditions..HineyGate (YEA YEA lots of people tailgate, but they tailgate in front of their cars, on a grill, listening to OSU band CD's. NOBODY, does it like they do at HineyGate in the nation. Live band, the danger brothers, Huge TV, It may not be sponsored by the U?niversity but its a tradition with the Fans)
Skull Session...BIG TIME tradition.
The March from St. Johns, to the Shoe..by the band
Playing " I wanna go back to Ohio State" in the ramp before they march onto the field.
Hang on Sloopy (state song of Ohio..rock song created by someone else..i know but they made it a tradition and traditions have to start somewhere else)
Script Ohio and the dotting of the I..... Who cares if Michigan created it, they did it ONCE..OSU made it a tradition...who knows if UM even did it the same way it is done now?? I doubt it howver..but as I said about hang on sloopy....traditions got to start somewhere...IF you want to say how we barrowed this and that...then BG stole ay-ziggy from the zulu's.
Neutron Dance....even if he is gone, they still play it for him.
BG's traditions..well, they do not really have any that stick out...and I have been to many many games.
Only one I remember is singing the Alma Mater after each game...which didnt even start until Urban installed it....
Other than that..they have their own asshole fans, their own drunks, and anyone who disagrees with a BG fan is condemned and wished to HELL!!
Oh, they have recently begun a tradition of losing to Kent State...
Eat a Nut, a Buckeye Nut, and I bet you won't feel too well afterwards..
Get ready to get your asses kicked Saturday.
If I were you I would not even bother making the trip. Many of you still think you actually have a chance?? You will be waisting your time.
I know Tressell doesnt like to really show up the MAC opponents, especially the in state ones...but I hope he really rips into BG..I want 35-0 midway through second quarter.
GO BUCKS

Ok buckeyeryn...that's fine...a more recent tradition has been the use of our "please block our punt" formation .
A river basin/sewage runoff pond called "Poe Ditch" figures prominently in BG history.. we even had head coach name an offensive formation after it. In 1989 (or 1990?), Moe Ankney installed a swinging gate formation and dubbed it the Poe Ditch Rat formation.
Another recent tradition we've established is "marvel at the psychotic rants of tekininininni", but that's a tradition specific to this board

But continue with your overly sensitive rants. They amuse me.

A couple other traditions which I don't think have been mentioned:
-SICSIC, the spirit crew. Six BG students dress in masks and jumpsuits, their identities concealed for the three years they are members of the group. They hand out candy, run all over the place at athletic events, paint signs and hang them all over campus, spread enthusiasm, and generally get away with whatever they want.
-Undying hatred for anything Toledo. The BG/UT rivalry is the most heated rivalry in the conference... no matter how hard the directional Michigans may argue, or how hard NIU may wish.

I gotta admit, the reaction to the original post was pretty extreme. Although, I can't say I don't see where the touchiness is coming from. We've had a scarlet and grey troll around here who has far overstayed his welcome.
Anyway, it's good to see all of the traditions posted on here, it was nice to read them even (or especially) as a BG fan.
My personal favorites are the Beer Barrel Polka and the playing of Forward Falcons after each TD. I love that song a little too much, I think.
Anyway, here's to a good game and good sportsmanship Saturday.
GO BG! BEAT THE BUCKEYES!
