I feel that the students will come reguardless of start time so we need to plan around the non-students. A couple late starts are fine, but i feel mostly earlier starts will help attendence.
I'd have to look up the numbers to be sure, but my impression is that on the whole the night games get way better attendance numbers. The night games provide the whole "atmosphere" better, because nobody is really willing to start tailgating at like 6:00 AM for BG.

I would never start a game before 4:00 regardless of the weather. I hate the noon/1 start games!

I gotta go with the late games. It gives the fans more time to tailgate. To me it seems that the stadium is more crowded when we have night games.
If you go to Toledo or you like Toledo, you suck!!!

Thanks to everyone who voted!! Coach Brandon will be a little upset because he's actually trying to get more day games. He feels that the lack of attendance is because games are being played at night and that daytime games would bring more fans. However, 60+ percent seem to rather have night games.

I find it funny that somebody now thinks night games are hurting attendance.

Night games, now and more of them in the future. Darn the weather.

Noon games are more disruptive to campus events and activities. Noon games conflict with too many local fan's interest in non-BGSU football on TV. Noon games start only as most college students are waking up. Noon games are a pain in the arse for remote alumni to travel too. Noon games feel colder when you haven't been up all day moving around. Noon games are harder to have fireworks for.

As for TV, screw'em, tell ESPN to start another channel and let us keep our night games.

night games just dont draw at bgsu unless its a good opponent which would draw reguardless of the time anyways. take you average opponenet like eastern. this was going to start i believe at 7:00 i can guarantee it would have drawn more than 15,000. now that its moved up people are talking around 23,000. night games just dont work. kent st last year. i was there with about 7,000 of my closest friends. i believe it was eastern in 2002. ghost town. the post about miami's homecoming at night 8,500. wow. imagine that game during the day 15,000 at least. the numbers dont lie. 1 or 2 night games a year yeah, but i looked at this years schedule at they were all late starts, prior to the changes. every major school has lights, but that doesn't mean they schedule 90% night games. i think a few night games early in the year and mainly 2:30 starts would be best for BGSU.

Again, I totally disagree. 2002 was whatever it was, two years in the past. Night games draw rather well at BGSU if you don't make the mistake of counting every single night game in its history. I'm not sure where you can support the view that night games don't draw well. I don't know where anybody is expecting 23,000 for the EMU game. Not because I don't think it couldn't happen, but the time of the game has little to do with it. There is buzz of a bowl game, EMU is improved and not the same whipping boy CMU was. Plus BG is coming off a winning streak, not dropping a game to NIU.

2:30 starts are not best for BGSU and are a step backwards.

Anything earlier than 4 p.m. is a mistake. Period.

Guess the 23,000 that showed up for that night game against SEMO this year just came to see the I-AA powerhouse Indians. :coo-coo:

Well, I'm not really sure what gave you this impression. I just looked into it and its hard to draw any serious conclusions. We have only played one game that started before 4:00 in the last 2 years (last year's UT game @ noon) and it drew well due to the implications and opponent. Admittedly in that stretch the late games have the lowest attendances, but they were also against KSU, EKU, and Liberty. At the same time night games against SEMO & Miami drew very well. In all honesty the only trend I could really see in the last 2 years is that attendance has more to do with opponent than gametime. The 4:00 games do all seem to draw pretty well though. Except for this year's homecoming, so its not like that time slot jumps out as great either.

Looking at the numbers the past 2 years I don't think you can really draw any conclusions as to which kickoff time(s) is/are going to give you the best attendance. I personally prefer the 4:00 or later games myself. I HATE the noon/1:00 games, but we haven't played many of those in the past 2 years. I'll be anxious to see what the attendance looks like for the home games that are early this year. My personal guess is that Marshall draws well and WMU is < 15,000. I still believe the attendance/atmosphere is better for the later games, but I have no data to back that up, its merely a perception on my part.

Of course the last 2 years is also a pretty small sample size, but I got bored looking up the numbers before I could finish :) LOL

Including me.

The weather sucked. It was something out of a horror movie. And we were up against Ohio State.[/quote]
