Awesome stuff.

First off, my Dad went here. I guess that's how BG even made it on to my list. I had full academic scholarship offers in hand from BG, Dayton, Baldwin-Wallace, and Westminster. I was accepted at Harvard, although I never had any intention of going. My Dad just made my sister and I each apply to one Ivy League school.

Interestingly enough, although I am very relieved I chose BG in the end, it was not my first choice. I really wanted to attend Denison University. I immediately fell in love with that place, and they wanted me to play baseball, which has always been my first love. In the end, they only came in with 1/2 scholarship, and they are pretty expensive. My parents offered to help pay, but in the end, I couldn't justify going in to all that debt when I had so many free ride offers in hand.

From the remaining schools, BG was the easy decision. Looking back, I wouldn't have had it any other way. I fell in love with the people, the programs, and the Falcon teams. I met my wife at BG. I have my current job because I went to BG. Sometime in the near future, I'll hopefully be moving back to Pennsylvania to take root and start my family. The only thing I will miss about this area, is Bowling Green and everything that goes with it.

It's called Kettering University.

Thanks Grant, but why the hell did you know that? :smt102

Also, my best friend from high school did go there. Turns out he was/is gay, so he probably really enjoyed the male-female ratio. :smt028

Applied to one school. Bowling Green.

Grew up an Indiana fan wanted to go there all of my life but $25,000 a year wasn't going to happen. I took campus tours at OU, Kent and BG. Like everyone is saying on here, for some reason BG just felt like home. It was not the most attractive campus. At the time they were working on building the union and the campus was under some kind of big dig operation. During my visit my parents and I watched a BG basketball game. I thought it was cool that the coach was a former IU basketball player and I really loved the gymnasium and atmosphere. It also helped that the journalism department was pretty good and that the sport management program was one of the best in the country.

My freshman year I was getting adjusted to BG. I was a BG student but still a Hoosier fan. Yeah I was one of those people. That year, IU went to the NCAA championship game and I wore my IU shirts proudly around campus and had IU BBall articles on my dorm wall.

After spending more time on campus and going to games and doing some work in the athletic department , the IU articles quickly came off the walls and the IU clothes are now in a box in my parents basement. I still like to see the Hoosiers do well but the Falcons are No. 1 and always will be.

Glasstech has had an intern from Kettering every semester since I've been working here. Also, one of my co-workers is an alum of Kettering... he was actually there during the transition from GMI to Kettering.

"I had my choice of several MAC, Big 10, clown and barber colleges. I picked BG because the place just felt like home when I toured the campus.

Which is odd...I commuted so I never actually lived on campus. I hung out on the steps of Mosely Hall alot though.

Ok it wasn't actually the steps...it was one of those flat concrete slabs next to the steps. I spent 5 years at BGSU and never once did a pigeon crap on me while I sat on that slab. Maybe I can control the pigeons like Aqua Man controls fish and I don't even realize it. I'll have to experiment and find out.

Hmmm...my weekend just got a tad more interesting"

Flipper, don't let MACMAN find out, he will want to take you hunting, and you know what happens then,

two go out, but only one comes back.

This is a great thread....

I applied to and got in to Penn State, Ohio State, Ohio U and BGSU. I was on my way to Columbus and then a last minute visit to BG and I was sold. I loved the campus, the people, the sports, the college community, downtown BG and of course the 3-1 girl to guy ratio.....

I'm proud of my college and education!! It has led me to a very successful career that I would not have had without BG!!! I only root for BGSU...oh and the Browns unfortunately....

Mel Brodt recruited me for BG. Unlike Grant though, I discovered that help was available for those that considered BG as an option. I didn't need it fortunately. I went to UT therebye saving Brodt from considerable embarassment that the guy who got Sid Sink and Dave Wottle on campus ever recruited me.

I grew up in Michigan.

I applied to Bowling Green and Detroit, the only schools I knew wouldn't charge me tuition. In Bowling Green's case, it was an academic scholarship. Until I received that offer, I had never heard of the place, and it took me a minute to realize it wasn't in Kentucky.

I regret not applying to Michigan and Harvard, just to see if I would have been accepted. I suspect I could have found a way into Michigan. But I'll never know for sure.

I don't regret choosing Bowling Green. I can't think of a place where I would have grown more, or become more accepted. I don't think I would have been happy at Michigan (for example).

I've lived in enough places since I graduated to start to recognize some of the cliches people say about places. "It's a great place to raise a family." Or: "We've got wonderful history, and we really need to capitalize on that."

So it's possible that many people feel a strong a sense of community about their alma mater just as we do about Bowling Green.

Still, I do think BGSU is special. People are just a little friendlier there. That's my sense.

I chose BG over the other state schools that I applied to during the winter of 1997. I'm not exactly sure why I originally chose BG, but I guess it just felt right. I enjoyed my first two years, but I didn't love the place, certainly didn't hate the place, though, either. However, the last three years, including grad school, were some of the best times of my life. I met my best friends to this day and my wife during that time. The education was great inside the classroom, but it was better outside the classroom at BG. I learned alot about myself and about life in my 5 years at Bowling Green and I am forever indebted to Bowling Green for that.

I make it back for the home football games and several basketball games a year. I wish I could make it back more, but my schedule doesn't allow it. I truly enjoy every time I get back to BG. I can't wait to get back next weekend for Homecoming. To have some fun downtown again and (hopefully) see a Falcon win at the Doyt for the first time in over a year.

I really want to see our Falcons shock the world tomorrow too.

I always remember the day when I wanted to go to BG.. November 29th, 2003.... I was watching the BG/Toledo game... and when I saw Josh Harris catch the pass from Magner for a BG Touchdown... I said, that's it, I'm going to BGSU... I went for a visit in December and loved it. Now i'm here and I couldn't be any happier.
