Taking out the trash
I've been suggesting this on and off for like eight years.
I *still* think it would be nice if Bowling Green could have a "take out the trash day." Round up all those Ohio State t-shirts, those Michigan caps, and so on from freshmen, throw 'em in a barrel, and burn them at halftime of the first home game.
Now, I understand that a fire may be a little goth, a little melodramatic for the family-oriented fun of a BGSU football game.
I also understand that there are probably starving children in North Korea or wherever that would love to wear a shirt, any shirt, and would happily settle for something in red and silver (or whatever Ohio State's colors are).
Still, I think some kind of gesture along the lines would be nice to see.
And it occurs to me that it could be done independently of BGSU.
Instead of doing it at a game... perhaps some sort of gesture could be done before the game, somewhere vaguely near the tailgating area, by fans armed with a permit from the fire department (or whatever) and a few extra campus police to keep away Tekekini.
I dunno. Perhaps this remains as whacky as it was eight years ago.
On the other hand, I'd go to a thift store just to have something to contribute. At least there would be one less wino in Columbus wearing red and silver (or whatever).

I believe it's "dark pink and chrome".Schadenfreude wrote:...something in red and silver (or whatever Ohio State's colors are).
Fire sounds fun.

Sounds good.
It would be great if you could offer a BG cap in exchange for the crap cap. A nice cap would be best, but a paper one that says, "Chico's Bail Bonds" real big and BG real small would would be better than nothing.
As far as the fire goes, S'mores flavored with a hint of wool and sweat are really tasty.
So burn baby burn!
If they're townies that are turning in caps, maybe give 'em tix or a buy one get one free deally.
Gg BG!!

Yes. I see an opportunity under the provisions of the Kyoto Protocols on climate change/control, so that anyone who owns environmentally unfriendly products of any description can voluntarily surrender same and consequently avoid potentially penal taxation and persecution.
Interestingly, this kind of approach could work on a regional basis, so that (for instance) OSU garb could be permitted within a 100 yrd radius of Ohio Stadium, and otherwise taxed, away games and bowl games excepted. Cars with buckeye stickers could be similarly confiscated and, uh, recycled.

I sure someone can provde a 55 gallon drum.
These morons need to know these are rival schools.......schools we would never support........ in ANY SPORT!!!!!
I am wearing my BG gear today. I have to go to a wedding this afternoon and I am trying to determine if it is okay to wear a BG ballcap at the wedding....... I don't have a brown suit...... only black...... it's an architect thing.

I was in a wedding the day of the Wisky game, and I had to settle for wearing my BGSU shorts under my tux pants. I would have been perfectly happy in a bright orange tux, but somehow I think that may have been frowned upon. Maybe the same could work for you.Tech83 wrote:I am wearing my BG gear today. I get OSU crap every year for x-mas from my grandma, who is just too lazy to put any though or effort into gift giving. It's never anything nice anyway, so I can bring a few shirts and a generic hat or two to help get the fire going!
As far as sneaking some BGSU stuff on a wedding day, I've settled for simply wearing a lapel pin in the shape of a Falcon head!

Ever since the brown tux with orange tie/vest got ruled out, I've been looking for ideas.

I think this is a pathetic thread. It is okay to be a fan of more than one team, especially when we only play once every so many years. Remember, it wasn't until 1992, that OSU played anybody in state for the first time since the Great Depression.
I get sick of people in Columbus wearing Michigan and Notre Dame stuff, but I am not organizing any bon fires. I know a number of people that are fans of both OSU and Notre Dame (but rarely UM). I also know a number of people that are fans of both BG and OSU (I for one). I grew up in C-bus, have a degree from BG and OSU, my folks have degrees from both. I will root for both schools and I will continue to purchase clothing that bares the logos of BG and OSU. Just like some of you will buy clothing of BG and some other school.
I will also root for BG everytime they play OSU in any sport. Of course, when OSU is chasing a National Title, just like in '03, it is tough to root against OSU. So I at least hope for a good game. Which at times we had today.

Well at least someone else out here has a tad bit of common sense, yet also having BGSU pride. Thank you sir for your comments.cbjhack wrote:I think this is a pathetic thread. I think it is good for BGSU to encourage OUR students to root for OUR school first. I also think that we need a little more BG pride from the students.
Hell, go to Miami and they brainwash you with how great Miami is.
Same with Ohio State, only with athletics.
We could do with a little positive brainwashing, imho.
