I'm going to have to agree with your assessment of Bullock. He's the next big thing in the BG backfield.
I saw that as one of the definite highlights of the game yesterday. Bullock solidified himself as a huge running threat and (I would assume) gained an unimaginable amount of confidence. He was able to break through on one or two and run over an OSU defender or two.
Another stat that I thought was really telling about our O-line was 2 sacks total and only 3 other TFL, none of which were very deep. Not bad against a large defensive front that was expected to handle them.

BG O-line......
Yeah, I thought the O-line did a pretty good job vs a very higly touted OSU front 4. A couple of the AT sacks though looked as though he could've bolted for at least 3 or 4 yard gain instead of being sacked but he took too long making his reads. If you told before game that we would have 160 yards rushing on a OSU defense I would've laughed myself silly. Our bane in this game was silly mistakes and the inability to get the passing game going like in years past. I think this game is alot closer if Omar rethinks his idiotic move to jump into the NFL and plays this game.
As much as I like GB's intensity for trying to pound our the running game , we still need more creativity in our passing game. Defensivley I like very much several defensive plays and the better tackling on many occasions. The Jamal Brown wrap up and plant down on Pittman was excellent although he had gotten the 1st down. I don't think I would see us lay 2 sacks and many hurries on Smith either. That was pleasantly surprisng as well.
Back to the Bullock point, yes he's our rb for now until proven otherwise. Macon needs work on how to read holes and explode through them. If we had B.Thomas eligible I rather have Macon at saftey.

The Chris Bullock bandwagon has officially begun. 
The RB position could get interesting next year if B.Thomas gets eligible. I'm kinda disappointed that the split/2-back offense has gone away. That formation seemed to work quite well when we used it. I don't think we've use it yet this entire season.

In response to the above statement about us rushing too much....
we have to be able to catch passes in order to have a passing game. How many wide open drops did we have? I wouldn't pass either if my receivers kept dropping everything.
And oh yeah, highlight film grab by Partridge in the end zone! Nice!

Bullock is a good young RB. However, I did notice he likes to go East/West to find the "best" hole. I think he just needs to work on squaring up to the line and he'll be a beast.

Bullock has the potential to be an absolute beast at RB. Absolutely. Still, he has to learn to just commit to running the ball. I have seen him stop, and even back up in the backfield trying to find a hole. He has to learn that once you stop, you lose all of your momentum, and consequently, that it is infinately harder to break through a tackle after doing so. The kid has a TON of talent, but this is one thing that, I believe, separates the mediocre backs from the great ones. From what I've seen, he has the potential o be a great one.
And really, Dan Macon has the same problem. He has been a frustratingly E-W runner this year, and I don't think we have really been able to get a guage on his actual game-speed because of that. Our RB's coach really needs to work on this with these kids.

I got a pretty good gauge of Macon's game speed yesterday. He might be the fastest player on the team in sprints, but in pads in live game action, he doesn't really stand out.
From what I've seen out of both of them, the right guy is getting the bulk of the carries right now. More youth to be excited about.

Agreed. I wasn't at Athens, and only saw a little bit of yesterday's game, but from that & the KSU game I have not seen that much East-West stuff from Bullock. I agree with the part about Macon. After the 1st week I was really ripping him for not standing out and having a good game. I took a beating on this board for that, and I think I've still yet to be proven wrong. A lot of people said he was our best player O or D in the offseason, and GB has always touted him as our fastest player. I've yet to see a flash of either...hammb wrote:Agreed. I was very disappointed with Macon in the first game. I kept saying that if Freddie can find holes in the middle they are probably there for Macon as well. I was willing to give him more time though and the Buffalo game was just more of the same. I didn't see the FIU game, but again in the KSU game we saw more of it. RB is one of those things that you're usually born with, as well, so I really don't expect him to magically become that great back we thought he could be. Pope, Bullock, and even Thomas last year, are all good examples. If a guy has the instincts to play RB they usually show it pretty quickly.
At this point I think Bullock is the better option as an everydown RB. From what little I saw Saturday I did love to see Barnes out there at WR quite a bit too
