If it's going to happen, I just hope they don't jack it up!

Good, I'm not here to please our opponents. Plus, like we don't think Zippy or the Toledo phallus are stupid?
Maybe something sleeker, sharper, and more creative would be better. As long as it's still reminescent of the traditional falcon head, being simple and stylized, and as long as it looks cool, I don't think I'd have a problem.

Yes, it would take a while to get used to, but we had to get used to what we have now, didn't we?
We don't need no stinkin' marketing geniuses screwing with tradition. Keep the 'retro' logo as is.

The whole point of good marketing is to create an idenity that EVERYONE likes.

What good does it do us if the only people who think our program is "cool" or whatever we want them to think of it are the ones associated with the university to BEGIN with?

We want to draw in more people, not just please the ones that are already fans.

Yes, I love our logo. I think it's cool. But I can also understand how someone who isn't involved with BGSU can feel negatively toward it. It's not the most well designed logo out there.

This is a great thread. I've enjoyed reading everyone's points about the logo. I love the logo. I have a tattoo of it on my right leg. IF they change the logo, I'll have to get a new tattoo on my left leg. No big deal.
I can see why some folks are open to a new logo...and others that are totally against it. I can see both sides. What makes me smile is all the talk surrounding the direction of the progams and the athletic dept. Paul Krebs, IMO, is an OUTSTANDING AD. The guy gets results. The whole dept is so much better than a few years ago. They now realize if we are gonna survive, we gotta be aggressive. They're asking questions and collecting info. Excellent work.

BGSU is becoming a player in the world of college athletics. Just keep it all ORANGE AND BROWN and I'll buy it up!

4 weeks....GO FALCONS!!

I like to think I'm a pretty big Bowling Green fan.

Then I read posts like that.

They certainly are creating some suspense. Marketing?? :)

I'm in for the old logo as well. I think it's one of the finest in college athletics. If they do an "Atlanta Falcons" to it, I won't be that upset. If the jerseys already have the retro logo on them, the new one can't be much different.

I agree with everyone 100% on those lame cartoon logos. The Toronto Raptors...ugh...I absolutely hate uniforms that look like they have an iron-on logo on them (like the Blue Jays this year).

Media Day last year was August 8 - when the heck is it this year?!?!? It can't be long now.

grr...

Take a deep breath, people. Practice started earlier last year, and media day started earlier because the season started earlier. I think practice starts Monday, so things will pick up after that.

I think the "new" logo is for retail type items, and the "old" type logo will be used on the uniforms. The are several variations or each but uniform in size, color scheme etc. I saw a quick review of the logos and that was my understanding, but am not real sure.

I assume you're talking something similar to the Detroit Tigers situation, oh about 10 years ago? Their on the uniform logo is, always has been, and always will be the Olde English "D". One of the great logos in all of sports. However, they had a secondary logo that was a circle of blue with "Detroit Tigers" Written in it, and a Tiger head in the middle of the circle. That logo was replaced with what is now an Olde English "D" with a Tiger jumping through it.

Nothing changed on the uniforms, but many marketing items and retail items have the logo w/ the Tiger on it.

I'm guessing this is what they're proposing for BG as well; a secondary logo to be used only on marketing & retail stuff? If so, I can certainly handle that, I would just hate to see our good logo be gone for good.
