Let's talk tailgatin'!

Post by hammb »

Okay, it's been too darn long since we've had a real tailgate!

PGY & I had discussed ribs a few weeks ago, and I know he said he bought some babybacks. Me, being not as rich as I would like, opted for some spares that Kroger had on sale, but I bought a 10 lb. box of 'em.

With the 4:00 kick, I'll probably shoot for about 10:00 ETA, is everyone else planning on the usual tailgate goodness??

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Save some for November 15?

The more I'm watching this Miami(OH) game, the more I can't wait to get up there for it. (I hope.)

I would love to grab a quick libation with y'all. I have alumni band so it's going to be a quick sip-sip once the band(s) get out to tent city. I have a funny feeling I'll need a little help in the way of liquid courage for the backbend this year. I'm getting too f**ing old for that s**t.

I'm hoping to have wife and daughter park near Fanatic.

It's going to be a hell of a weekend. I'm going to be flying out of Cleveland to Tampa on Wednesday and then flying into Toledo on Friday night. Wife and halfling will be picking me up at the airport @ 10pm with some LEFT OVER MYLES PIZZA - RIGHT MARTA?

Sounds good. My plan is to be on the road by 6:30 Saturday morning, and in BG by 11:00, though it stands a good chance of being 12:00. Trying to get 4 girls out the door on time is damn near impossible.

I will be bringing ribs, and a big pot of chili, plus as always my blackberry beer. If Grant can keep is chili from catching fire, I will gladly challenge him to a repeat of last years chili cook-off.

Those of you with little girls aroud 18mo, 4yrs and 6yrs should stop by. This is the first game I'm bringing the girls too, so I'm sure they'll be lookign for playmates.

What are your plans for the ribs PGY?

My thinking was do 'em low 'n' slow on Friday, like I normally would to make ribs (although I've never actually made 'em). Then throw 'em in some tupperware or something. Then Saturday I can put 'em on the grill and sauce them at that time?

Seems to me that's the best way to go about it, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I was planning on something similar Hammb. I was going to put them in crock-pot and cook them on low overnight Friday. they'll probably get a little BBQ sauce/bourbon mix to sit in. Then grill 'em up when I get there.

Sounds like a plan, although I'll be doing mine in the smoker instead of the crockpot :)

I'll probably come up with some sort of rub on them, and maybe baste with some apple cider. Probably use apple chips, although I have a large limb that fell off one of my peach trees a couple months ago...wonder if that is dead enough to smoke with yet...?
