As always, this just sucks to hear. I feel bad for all his family, friends, and teammates. It's always a shock when you hear about these kids, that are in great physical shape, suffering from fatal injuries during training.SaxyIrishTenor wrote:It's not just you.kdog27 wrote:I'm sad to hear about this. Is it just me or this type of thing becoming more and more common in athletics?
As for them becoming more common, I'd be willing to bet they are far LESS common than they were 20-30 years ago. The difference is now you hear about every single one of these instances nationwide. The way coaches used to treat players in the past, with water being held back as punishment, etc, I have to believe these things are less common nowadays.

I don't think it's very common. The stories just get so hugely publicized, it seems like it happens all the time. When you think about the sheer number of kids participating in college athletic programs, very few have had problems.
Very sad whenever it does happen though. The BG community knows all too well. Condolences.
