Uniforms
Uniforms
Does anybody like the orange pants/white shirt combo? I absolutely hate it. Maybe it is the style of our unis, but I just don't think it looks good at all.
Here is a blurb from the Dayton Daily News about the orange pants:
"Bright orange is not a very menacing color. That's what the Bowling Green uniforms carry on the pants. It's not very scary when the other team looks like the label of something you would use to wash your sink.
Maybe it was an attempt to keep the OSU players squinting at the brightness.

Sounds like an amazingly stupid article written by a girl who knows nothing about football and perhaps majored in art or interior design.Warthog wrote:Does anybody like the orange pants/white shirt combo? This is why the Dayton Daily News isn't a paper you see on a lot of shelves around the country.

I do not really like the white top/orange pants. I think our current uni scheme was designed to be monochrome only. I also think both pants look silly with the brown jersey because they are 'nuevo' with the tooth while the brown jerseys are old school. That said, for some reason the orange pants looked good at OSU, maybe because it was so bright the orange looked very shiny, much better than they looked at Buffalo last year.

How about some visual aids for this thread.
I do like the new orange on orange color scheme.

But the old one was nice as well, but I think I like the new look better.

White on white can look good.

But not always as in this picture.

I liked this combination of orange and white.

And I do like the new brown on white look.

But the rest of the combo looks don't really do it for me.

I actually like when we wear orange pants with the white tops. I don't like when we wear white on white on the road at all. Although, I do think the older uniforms when we had just solid orange pants looked better with the older white tops than it does with the new ones. Either way, it's kind of cool to see us mix it up a bit.

I wasn't ever much of a fan of the brown jerseys either, but I know a lot of people do like them. I like when we wear orange. To be honest, I always though orange and brown were terrible together. But then I went to BG and over the years the colors have grown on me I guess.kdog27 wrote:I know I might be in the minority but I don't care for the brown jerseys at all. I don't like all white on the road. I prefer the orange pants. I liked Saturday's look.
I wonder how a poll would turnout.
And, as everyone knows, I prefer brown jerseys at home -- and brown seemed to blow orange a way in a poll we did right after the Wisconsin game.
I'd like it if we could do brown every home game.
Finally: In my view, brown and orange work best together when brown dominates (e.g., this Web site).
When orange dominates, a little brown looks a bit odd.
I do think the home orange is a fine effort to pull off mostly orange, but I still think brown works much better as the dominant color.

I think that might be why I don't like our current unis with orange pants and white shirts. You get just a little splash of brown in the 'tooth' stripe of the pants and the brown stripe across the collarbone. The brown is dominated by the orange and it just doesn't look right.Schadenfreude wrote:Finally: In my view, brown and orange work best together when brown dominates (e.g., this Web site).

From the pictures above, the older white shirt/orange pants combo doesn't look as bad. But there is no stripe on the pants and brown is basically non-existant in that style. So I think just orange and white looks ok. But a splash of brown with the orange and white just doesn't work for me.
