Our PA announcer....
Is horrible. Horrible. I have tried to give him a chance, but he doesn't do anything to prepare. Its one thing to say a D-lineman was "in coverage" on a running play. But when you mispronounce half the basketball team's names, that's an embarassment.
Let me provide a hint. Look at the roster before the game and learn the names. You had all week.

Right on! Listening to that guy talk while watching paint dry is my idea of a great time. Who is this Josh Amen on the basketball team? I hope he's an athletic wing player!

I am also not a fan of the scoreboard. The stats they show are rarely updated, the choice of font and colors is too hard to read, and they never show replays on the plays that are questionable (pass interference calls, balls that are ruled incomplete, but look like catches). I would rather have the other scoreboard than one that is not run properly. I know we haven't had many home games this year, but it wouldn't hurt to go out during the week and do some praticing to make sure all of the bases are covered.
Maybe I am being too nitpicky, but maybe these are some of the little things we need to have taken care of in order to become a "big" time program.

On the topic on not showing "contoversial" replays... I think it was the roughing the kicker call. They didn't show the replay at all. Then they show a shot of Coach Brandon on the scoreboard. And what was he doing? Looking up at the scoreboard waiting to see the replay!

One more scoreboaard complaint... They kept advertising the next two home games, which I think is great. But the graphic showed the Marshall game being on Nov 6 at 1:00. Sure, there is a game on Nov 6 at 1, but it isn't Marshall. Does no one proofread this stuff.

Maybe the announcer works the scoreboard tooWarthog wrote:One more scoreboaard complaint... They kept advertising the next two home games, which I think is great. PA Announcer
This is my first post. I debated, after the last two home games about posting my opinion, but thought I'd still "give him another chance". I've read all the posts prior to this game but I cannot bite my tongue any longer!!! The announcer literally takes all the fun out of the game for the fans and is so boring. It used to be a lot more fun going to games when the announcer was just as excited as the fans and showed support of the team over the PA system. I say bring back the "Falcon First Down" and let the fans show their enthusiasm for the success of their home team.

I think he'll be glad when BJ Lane and PJ Pope graduate. He can't keep those guys straight to save his life.
Thaler made a nice tackle at the line of scrimmage on Sherrill. The PA guy actually sais that Mike was in coverage on the play...a 280lb DT stuffs the run and this mook says he's "in coverage"? It's like having WKRP's Les Nessman behind the mic.

Maybe its a marketing scheme... No one will want to come see a crappy WMU team play, but if they think they're seeing Marshall, maybe they'll come out!Warthog wrote:One more scoreboaard complaint... Here's a marketing scheme...it's parents weekend next weekend!! Instead of throwing the wrong school name in the mix, why not market that?! If you give parents some sort of deal or something along that line, maybe more would come.

That guy is a JOKE!
It was bad enough that he says somebody is in coverage when they make a tackle on a running play. He calls a sack a QB the ball carrier tackled by so & so. Has he EVER watched a football game? After misnaming players and having no clue what the terminology of a football game is he then backs that up by mispronouncing the name of nearly every member of our Men's hoops team!?!?!?!?
This hack must go! What a great way to get more fans to our home games, by providing them with an announcer who knows less about football and BG athletics than your average 4th grader at Kenwood Elementary.

Re: Our PA announcer....
That's a clear lack of professionalism. Beyond that, it reflects a lack of reverence, and simple respect for that matter, for BGSU athletics. It makes a statement along the lines of "...well, why bother getting the names right. Nobody cares. I can get by just going through the motions."orangeandbrown wrote:Is horrible. Horrible. I've seen this type of attitude around the university for years. I'd like to see Krebs and the athletic department weed these types of people from the university's payroll. It would be another good step in the direction of elevating our programs.
I knew there had been a lot of changes on the men's basketball roster but this guy had me grabbing the binoculars to see what/who he was talking about.
Hopefully this guy doesn't also have "rights" to the mic in Anderson Arena this season.
I vote for Dave Horger to fill the role. I have confidence he knows the names and knows more than a little something about the game.
