I will answer parts of this.bgsufalcon24 wrote:That may be true to a degree, Tressel doesn't exactly lay it on lesser teams. He did take it easy on Northern Illinois after OSU built a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter. But then again, if Ohio State could have crushed BG horribly and scored at will, why was it only a 14-point game going into the 4th quarter? It was 21-7 at that point and the game could still have been in doubt had OSU made a mistake or BG made a big play of some kind. Just something to consider.tekekini wrote:Thats because OSU doesnt want to run up the score on in state opponents, or any opponent for that matter. they could have scored anytime from anywhere on the field.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Ah, no reason to even dignify tekekini with a response. Any sane person knows EMU won't win this one by 39. Hell, the Big Bad Buckeyes of Ohio State only beat us by 28.Bleeding Orange wrote:Weren't you leaving?tekekini wrote:EMU 42

My prediction: BG wins handily. Welcome to the Doyt. Again.
You (not specifically you but you as in members of this baord) also said you wouldnt lose to Kent and you lost just about as bad as I predict you to lose to EMU.
As for Kent State, I don't think anybody except for maybe Kirk Herbstreit thought they would be this good. They're 4-2 and 3-0 in MAC play, having crushed Akron the week after they rolled through us. That's been our only loss in conference thus far, and at the time of making our predictions for that game I don't think anybody would have seen their emergence as a MAC powerhouse. Even when they beat Miami down in Oxford the previous week, we all thought, well, that was an upset. Upsets happen. Three games later, its obvious that game wasn't an upset. Eastern Michigan on the other hand, is 0-fer. They've yet to win a game, and are coming off of a spanking at the hands of none other than Louisiana-Lafayette! I'm sorry, but Eastern Michigan is not a very good football team, certainly not nearly as good as Kent State right now.
Hey Tekekini, I have to ask, did you go on the Ohio University message boards last week and rip the people there for predicting that they would beat us back on September 30th? After all, it would only be fair. Not many people from outside of BG expected us to win that one, and we did, so this mistaked prediction stuff goes both ways.
They were only up 14 going into the 4th quarter because of what I said. Tressell didnt want to put them down too bad. Tressell wins those kinds of games by however many points he wants to win them by. I think he was satisfied with 21 points and probably didnt plan on BG scoring. As soon as BG scored he went right on down the field twice in a row and scored TD's. One 7 or 8 minute drive and then th long pass to Ginn. The last one seemed almost to serve the purpose to show that they could have done it all day if they wanted too.
I think in the middle OSU was trying to work on some things in the offense to get ready for later in the season. They went to almost a practice/scrimmage mode. They worked on some things in the running game and a few new pass plays it looked like to me. I saw some things I havent seen them do yet this year.
Tressell knew control of that game was never in doubt. He was not in a hurry to put it away, he wanted the #1's to get work on some of the new stuff. what a better time to do it then in real game situations.
