Yes, congratualations are in order for Big Bird - I think last night marked his first ever collegiate field goal, in his home state no less. Impressed FIU commentators said he split the posts, and he "wellied" the pigskin (as in "give it some welly!" (rugby lingo)) with a good 10 yards to spare. If that is a precursor for the rest of his career, the future could well be orange.

They sure did. Rojas looked (to me) like we had kidnapped him from the NFL, and Big Bird hit not one but TWO field goals. That's got to be a huge load off his shoulders.MIBGSUFan wrote:FIU HAD there chance to get Ellis. They decided to only offer a "walk on" to him. He politely told them "no thanks"... for nothing. Glad to see him get a few confidence builders. Rome wasn't built in a day, and BOTH our kickers started building their foundations tonight.
Special teams were a lot better. Obviously, we have room to grow, but considering we actually forced the Panthers into some mistakes on special teams -- it was a heck of a performance overall.
