Mark Schlabach has us back in Mobile to take on Southern Miss.
Kent State, NIU, and CMU are the other MAC bowl picks between Schlabach and Ivan Maisel.

Sounds good to me.

I just hope we can run the table and grab a MAC championship.

It seems to me Kent State and Central Michigan have the inside track, since they seem to be in good positions to win the divisions. Division winners are guaranteed a bowl game now.

As for the third bowl berth? I think Western Mcihigan, Ohio, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green all have interesting resumes.

Before this weekend, Northern Illinois (and Wolfe) was the clear favorite -- but the way Western Michigan shut them down, and with their record, I don't know if they have any more margin of error at all.

We really need to beat Central Michigan this week.

Just glancing at that list, Schlabach has Western in the Birmingham Bowl.

Man it's wwwaaayyyy to early to start making road trip plans...but I figure Mobile and Birmingham both have connectings through Charlotte or Atlanta.

I didn't even know of the Birmingham bowl, International yes, but Birmingham no....and that is not a definite conference invite. I believe we only have 3 for sure's then its a roll of the dice on our league's "bowl eligibles" vs. Rest of Nation (i.e. held in high esteem BCS schools).

I think it will be hard to overtake Kent's lead, not impossible, but very difficult even if our team wins out. That is why the next game is important and only then the one after that, etc. It doesn't matter so much as to who wins the west, just hope that it becomes a little more clouded late tomorrow night.
What is important, if we don't win East, is to still be very very good and outshine the rest of the MAC for at least that 3rd, definite invite.
It was a help that Wolfe was handcuffed by Western Michy, and we own the head-to-head second tiebreaker on Ohio.

It might be a tall order but if NIU can go into Iowa City in a couple weeks and knock off the Hawkeyes they can pretty much wrap up that 3rd bowl bid, barring a total collapse during the rest of the MAC schedule.

The Birmingham Bowl is a bowl game that we can get into if the MAC gets lucky enough. It's another one of those new tie-in's that the MAC seemed to have gotten this year. Hey, if we can get MAC teams into four different bowl games this and pull out wins, that looks even better for the MAC!!
