Maybe we could add a second set of numbers on the scoreboard, showing how the Falcons are doing against the spread. :)

In other words, we could have spotted EMU the points and started the game with a 31.5 to 0 EMU lead.

That certainly made Saturday night more interesting. In fact, by that measure, we lost :)

(I think the Falcons are 5-2 against the spread.)

I do my share!

I live 600 miles away from Bowling Green, which makes for a 1,200 mile round trip journey. "Every" BG home game, in football and basketball, is a "road trip" for me. To get to BG by plane, it takes four flights (two connections) and several hundred dollars for me to do it, not counting tickets, food, hotel, etc. If I drive it, it's 10 hours each way and is a 20 hour round trip. I'm also an SID at a Divison-I university which means I also work every weekend of the year and need to pay to have an office assistant cover my events for me to get away when I can. If I can make it back for some games, then I sure as heck hope people who live in the state of Ohio or close by to BG and have weekends off can go from time to time.

Bottom line is, BG is one of the most exciting and better teams in the country. We're a Top-25 caliber team. Yesterday, we have just over 10,000 people at a home game. The same day, the Norfolk State at Howard game had over 12,000 people there. You tell me what is wrong with this picture?!
GO BG!!!

If Brandon is anywhere near the fence about some hypothetical Nevada-Las Vegas offer, you've got to think looking up in the stands Saturday could influence his thinking.

If Paul Krebs ever had a notion of considering an opportunty somewhere else* instead of continuing to wait out Andy Geiger here at BGSU, looking up in those stands could not have been a good thing for him or us.
I have always thought that the pathetic attendance for the final home game in 2002 against these same EMU HURONS played a role in Urban Meyer's departure. I don't care what attendance they announced, there couldn't have been more than 5,000 people at that game. That had to be really disheartening for a great group of SR's and a very good team that was a week away from a game with Toledo

That game was on a VERY cold night, it was unbelievably cold. EMU was as bad as any team in the nation, quite possibly the worst. OSU beat UM in the afternoon to clinch a berth in the national championship game. We had been having a rough time lately after a very exciting beginning to the season.

That is a recipe for VERY bad attendance. I went to the game, but even we left at halftime. It was insanely cold, and the game was O-V-E-R at that time.

We've already had this discussion. It's the opponent. I'm sure we'll do much better for Western and Marshall because they're percieved as better programs (although Western certainly isn't good).

Amen, that was nasty cold, and sitting out in the open without people around you only made it worse. There was snow on the ground, and the wind just whipped off of it.

Oh, and Urban didn't leave because he was disappointed with a crowd. He left to double his pay (or more).

Wuss...I stayed for the whole game. I think that Ted Piepkow's family comprised at least 2/3 the 4th qtr "crowd". I do admit to leaving the UT games in 2000 and 2002 beofre the final gun though. People bitch about the Doyt being cold, but the Glass Bowl is no picnic either

SF,

Your post flat out scares me...Because is could happen. :(

I stayed the whole game for EMU in 2002 as well as the UT games of 2000 and 2002. Actually, I've never left a BG game early....never. I don't care what the score or who's leading...I figure I make it to 8,9 or 10 games a year and I'm staying til it's over.

But that's just me. Like Major Falcon told me 7 times last night, you can only make sure you're in the stadium and cannot control what others do.
But it sure pisses me off seeing such a pathetic crowd for a decent weather night.

Funny, because I actually stayed to the finish of the glass bowl for both of those games. The 2000 game may have been the coldest football game I've ever been to. THe 2002 game was so cold that tailgating comprised of climbing into the back of the truck with the heater cranked and playing playstation! LOL We'd open the tailgate, grab a beer from teh cooler and close it back up ASAP! HAHA

The way I work is that I'll always stay to the end of any game that we're losing or that is competitive. I've seen so much crazy stuff in football games, I always believe we can come back if we're within a couple scores. But I have a real hard time staying to the final ticks go off when we're rolling by 3 or 4 TDs.

I stay until my wife threatens divorce. At that point, the socreboard loses some relevance. When it's really cold, I leave her at home. (the aforementioned UT games being the exception)

Someday, she's going to pull that routine at a close game. Any decent lawyers on the board?

The end of that season truly was tough, on all of us. That EMU game was sad and pathetic, but I agree, the two prior losses had no one in the mood for being out in that weather.

The 2002 UT game was quite possibly the coldest i've ever been anywhere in my life. The first half was okay, because we were keeping it close, but after that, it was hard to stay the whole game with a completely numb lower body...but i did. It was a sad day, but even sadder when I found out Urban Meyer was a liar. Planning on sticking around a while and building a program...sure. When Coach Brandon said those same words starting this season, I already began looking for his new home. It's hard to picture anyone staying if they all have success like these two great coaches.
