Akron beat them in like the 1890s or something, I believe it was at OSU. It's been a long time for the MAC.

1894 to be exact, which obviously was well before the MAC was even founded (1946) or for that matter when Akron joined the MAC (1992). Anyways, OSU lost to Akron 12-6 and even then OSU only played in Columbus.

September 5th, 1894

Akron 12
Ohio State 6

This was the only game Akron played that season. And I don't think OSU could quite seat 100,000 yet, but I'm just guessing on that.

"Ohio State has never been beaten by a Mid-American Conference team. OSU is 9-0 vs. the MAC with a 4-0 mark vs. Ohio, 2-0 records against Bowling Green and Miami, respectively, and a 1-0 record vs. Toledo."

As noted by the chronology listed by UK that statement carries truth with it.

How many times has OSU played the MAC since 1999. It seems absurd the amount.

I can think of 5 off hand. 2 games this year. Miami last year. Marshall the year they illegally beat them in regulation by a field goal.

Starting in 1997 with BG, OSU has made a effort to play at least one MAC team a year, until this year of course when BG was a late add to their schedule that already included NIU.

What's the point of the fifty question session? Are you going somewhere with this?

In 1999 we had only played them twice, and that's where that statistic came from.

I'm pretty sure the 1999 statistic doesnt' include the 2003 game.

I think you are on the right track UK, but off just a bit. I think OSU made an effort to play an in-state school every year. That would include Cincinnati, not just the six MAC schools. And I guess Youngstown State now as well. :P

yeah, ohio state tries to play as many instate teams as they can in their OOC games. and with the abundance of MAC teams in ohio, they'll almost always end up with a MAC school on their schedule.

playing the instate schools is sort of their way of sharing the wealth. instead of paying $600K to buffalo or temple, they give it to BG, toledo, kent, etc...
