End of the first BG up 2-0.

Friars will have a powerplay for 45 seconds to start the 2nd period.

Simms (Friar's goalie) played a very good period.

BG still up 2-1 end of the second. Neville is doing well, but the D wasn't able to clear the puck like they were able to in the first.

That's the game. 4-2 BG wins.

First period, the boys came out and played a very good, aggressive period. Second period was the Friars turn to be aggressive. Scored one goal.

Third period, BG came out and scored after 20 seconds. From there it was basically all Friars. They scored another - somehow - on Neville (who played very good).

Empty netter finished off the scoring. Pretty good effort. Let's go and beat BC!

The Falcons played well, and Neville looked good. PC's second goal happened right in front of us, but, naturally, I was looking elsewhere. The shooter was practically on the goal line; Matsumoto has scored from similar locations in the past.

As usual, my question is: Did BG look good because BG is good, or was the competition weak?

Small crowd.

I met a ref (#5) in the restroom before the game. I had started to brush my teeth :-D when in walks a guy on skates. Black pants, too. He starts talking, and I asked, "Are you an official?" He says yeah. I ask, "You don't have your own locker room?" No, there's construction going on, so the refs don't have a room of their own. I said, "So you're taking your chances with the fans, eh?" He replied no problem, college hockey fans are great. Really nice guy, loves the game. We met again at the first intermission, and he remembered my name.

Good stuff.

Edit: Did you see what ND did to BC?!!

Way to go Falcons!!! I listened to it at the high school football game tonight, which is why I wasn't in the chatroom!!! Congrats to Petruska for getting his first collegiate goal and to Page for his first assist!! Congrats to Neville for his first start and win and kudos to Hodgson for getting 3 assists tonight!!

Good Luck at BC!!!!
Falcons fly faster and higher than Eagles!!!

EDIT: CONTRATULATIONS, COACH PALUCH ON YOUR 50TH CAREER WIN!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

#1 BC will not allow themselves to have the crap kicked out of them two nights in a row. Whatever their problem was, I am sure adjustments will be made by Jerry. He was probably up all night watching game tape.

Here's the USCHO article on the game. This is the third time in a row that the Irish have played BC when they were ranked #1 and the third time they have beaten them!!

Good Luck Falcons!! It will be a tough, hard fought game, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!
