I don't think anyone would hesitate to admit CMU and Kent were better than us if we had been beaten while playing the level of football we brought to the table against OSU, Ohio, and Wisconsin. But, we will never know if we are better head to head because we played the team we expected to face and not the team that took the field. I do believe our best game of the season was against OU. If we played that well every week we would win a lot--that's quite an insight! I do think Kent and CMU have better teams than us this year. Why is that so hard to admit?
Anyway, I do see your point. Go Falcons!

My point is, we have seen the level this team is capable of playing at. But for one reason or another they didn't. Why can't we expect that level of play at every game? To me, the answer is we should expect it all the time.

The coaching staff doesn't seem to expect us to play at that level every game so there is almost no chance that the players will. Until you start coaching with accountability instead of excuses, we will continue to come out flat roughly half of the time. It's the Journey... wrote:My point is, we have seen the level this team is capable of playing at. It sucks, because my two favorite teams are both suffering from this...the Browns have similar issues. They come out flat every week and all I hear is, "Well we didn't make the plays we needed to win." UGH.

OK, I can understand that. But the teams who can do it every time, and be 5-0 in league play, are better than the teams that can't.It's the Journey... wrote:My point is, we have seen the level this team is capable of playing at. Agreed. Lots of people have very different definitions of "better" I suppose. Central is definitely more experienced and better coached than we are. I don't think they are more talented. Same deal w/ Kent.
Our inconstistency is a product of youth and coaching. I'd chalk it more up to youth, but last year's team was incredibly inconsistent with a lot of talented veterans. That points more towards the coaching staff being the problem.
Like Hammb said, consistency and attitude starts at the top. Or, in our case, doesn't start.
