First of all, I don't post much on this board, but I view a lot. There are a few things that have gotten under my skin so much that I have to post my thoughts.

1. I don't believe this football team is plummeting to the Bottom 10 in the NCAA. For cryin out loud. New's Flash....we will not be 10-2 or even 9-3 every year. Every program has some rebuilding periods. Last year, we hit an unexpected road bump when Omar went down and finished 6-5. Probably would have finished 9-2 had Omar not gotten hurt. We lost a lot last year, and as much as we hate to use it as an excuse...this team IS young. But I look at the freshman on our team right now and I get excited about guys like Bullock and Sanderson and Charles.

2 Anybody that is sending Coach Brandon emails or the AD complaining that Brandon should resign is out of there mind. He has not had a losing season, in his tenure. He brought in a great recruiting class this past year. And I don't think we will have a losing record when this year is done. I'm not saying Brandon is the perfect coach, but he has done plenty of work to contribute in the turn around of this program.

I know people tell me that I'm drinking the Orange Kool-Aid but I think we need to settle down and let this thing pan out. I really think if we can get our situation at QB solved and get insync on offense, this team will be back at the top of the MAC next year.

Ok...go ahead and rip me now

Thank you much for taking the words out of my mouth. Many of us said we'd be happy for a .500 team this and guess what, that's probably what we'll end up being, hell we might even be a little better. We have a winning record in conference. Even if we lost to Temple we're still better than most of the teams that matter. Hell we romped the #1 team in our division. The team obviously has some good things to build on and some solid players who could be a wonderful foundation for an awesome team either next year or a couple years from now.

All of us should take lessons from Browns fans. You have one job and that is to support your team through thick and thin, good times and bad. No team has better fans than the Cleveland Browns, it sure would be nice if someone had something like to say about the Falcons wouldn't it?

I agree, yeah the Temple loss was one of the worst in school history, but we have a ton of young talent to build on. I liked what i saw from sheehan on saturday and i think that If i am coach brandon, i would let him play the rest of the season and have an open competition between him, turner, and glaud. I have my doubts about sheehan running the type of offense that we run because he cant run, but it seems like he has a great arm and is a 100% better passer than turner right now. Yeah, you can say that Turner is playing with a bum shoulder, but he just flat out isnt getting it done.

We obviously have a great freshman class this year with bullock, barnes, sanderson, brown, rojas, charles, and mahone. I think that we can build on that and be a big time player for years to come in the MAC. We were gonna have a down year sooner or later. Even Ohio State has one (2 years ago they went 7-5) because they were young. Their young talent grew up and became the best team in the nation. My question is why can't our young talent grow up and become the best team in teh MAC?

It's not a question of "if", its a question of "when."

Hell yes the browns have the best fans, and i'm one of them. Hopefully they can shock the NFL and beat the chargers this week.

Does getting back on top of the MAC include being something other than the squad with the worst special teams in the country? If not, I don't see it, even with how abysmal the MAC has become. If so, how does our special teams improve next year?

I feel a bit sorry for you. It's not that we don't want to be optimistic or that you aren't trying to be a voice of reason, it's just you must be blind to what is happening out there on the football field. There is nothing wrong with rebuilding or reloading, but we still need to beat the teams that we are supposed to beat. Also it wouldn't hurt to beat them by as much or more than what we should beat them by every once and awhile even with young players (thats already factored in!) Odds makers are typically deadly accurate in making spreads, and it can be used as a good measuring stick of which way a program is headed. In BGSU's last 10 games in which they were FAVORED/SUPPOSED to win, they have either lost the game or not won by more than the spread! That's right 10 games in a row, by a combined margin of 204 points!!!!!! Including losses of 57, 43, 42, 25, and 14!!! That speaks volumes to me, and maybe you need to pay attention to the other college football programs but we are not headed in the right directions on any kind of relative basis. We either lose to someone we have no business losing to, or barely eek out a win against someone we have no business with being in a close game with! And don't forget thats factoring in the # of freshman playing, the injuries, the coaching and my personal favorite being tired because we didn't have a bye week!!!!!!!

Here's hoping to you seeing the light! :)
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

You're right Niz. Not one of us Browns fans was asking for Maurice Carthon's head on a platter. The best fans in the world wouldn't do that.

Agreed. Browns fans were asking for Carthon's head since halfway through the year last year. I've seen countless fans asking to fire Romeo (I'll give him more time, but he's not been impressive thus far). I see a lot of fans saying Charlie Frye will never be a good QB (still very young in his career).

I was once at a game when Browns fans cheered because Tim Couch didn't get back up after getting hit. That brought in the immortal Kelly Holcomb. Couch broke down in tears in the postgame press conference and the Cleveland fans basically ran him outta town.

Browns fans are much more vocal about wanting coaches changed/fired than what any of us BG fans have been up till this point. If it makes me not a real fan of BG football, then so be it, but anyone who doesn't see the downard trend that this program is on is deluding themselves.

I came to this school amidst the darkest years of the program at the end of Blackney's tenure. I, like most of my fellow students, didn't seem to much care about football. Then I befriended some of the players and started attending the games to support them, but I was alone in this decision. I remember seeing games where 8,000 people seemed like a generous attendance estimate. When Blackney resigned I let out a yell of joy in the computer lab where I read the article and people around me asked what I was happy about. I told them Blackney resigned and many of these other students didn't even know who he was! Urban Meyer changed all that. Suddenly we were competitive and winning again. Urban rallied the students and the student section was packed with averages of 7000 students a game. In one year the program that I was in the minority by supporting had become the cool thing to do on Saturday afternoons/evenings. We brought in a new caliber of athlete, and we expected excellence from them. I knew a number of the players that survived the transition, and a number of them that fled from the extra work. Those that stuck around had a completely different mindset, and losing was no longer tolerated. This attitude became that of the team and no longer would they let themselves lose to teams like Temple (or Buffalo).

Urban left, but the players he instructed still had that attitude. Gregg Brandon took over and we didn't miss much of a beat in the 2003 season. Our players were veterans, and they were still disciples of Meyer's teaching. They played tough and refused to lose, except for a couple games against incredibly talented OSU & Miami teams.

As the years have gone on, we've had less of the players that Urban tutored...no we have none, or very few. If the current staff were instilling that same sense of dedication and refusal to accept failure this would not be a problem, but the attitude is not there. Pop in a tape/DVD of the 2001-2003 teams, you'll see a completely different mindset. Mistakes are not tolerated, and the team played as one. Then watch this current team. We are not that much younger than we were in '01, yet we are light year's behind that team, why? Because our coaches are not preaching the right way to play football.

I ask you, how are kids going to develop the 'failure is not tolerated, there are no excuses' attitude when all they hear on every radio postgame is more excuses!? If the excuses are good for the coach, they're good for the team. This team is going nowhere under this staff, and I'm saddened to say that I expect them to go back to the Blackney era. With the way the NCAA wants to put forth these new attendance requirements/sanctions I think it'll be a lot harder to dig back out of that hole than it was 5 years ago.

I, for one, would like very much to not fall into that hole in the first place.

Hammb's got it right.

All those preaching patience, read this carefully, and think back to the last doldrum period for BG football.

Now consider what Hammb said about new NCAA regulations, and what that might mean to turning the program back around.

Now consider the damage that will be done to this program by the time Brandon's contract is up. Still think 300k is too much money?
