So when are we going to get a good coach?

Post by BGathletics24 »

It seems a lot of you are missing the point as to why BG Hockey is going down the tubes. It's not the players, it's not the rink, it's not the locker rooms, it's not the fan base, it's not because of the losing seasons...year after year after year....it's the poor coaching by Pooch. I would say that it's the poor coaching staff along with him, but Pooch's staff doesn't seem to stay on long enough to blame.

Nobody wants to work for a loser. Why do you think they are all trying to get out? It's because they know they CAN'T and WON'T win with Pooch as the head coach. The guy will never get the job done. And believe me, there are plenty of people on the athletic department who are aware of the kind of coach he really is.

Most college alumni hockey players say farewell to their coach with a nice hand shake and a smile, but not BG hockey alumni, they hand in a letter to the athletic department asking them to fire Pooch because of the way he delegates his team. These are the "good" and the "great" players that have come out of BG too.

Stop making excuses for the guy. I want BG hockey to be as successful as you all do. However, I know that the program will never turn around unless you get a coach in there who is really going to lead the team and not run his players down and ruin their chance at a successful college hockey career.

Here's the real question: Why weren't any of you former players on here complaining about Buddy Powers losing year after year? Because Buddy is a great guy, right? Was he a good coach? (As one of you told me in your typical drunken stupors one night. You never even played for him so how would you know?) If he was then why did we still lose?

You asshats are extremely two faced when it comes to the coaches. If the coach treats you well but you still lose, oh well, life is still good because Coach is a nice guy.

We heard you months ago.....go away.

BTW, I hear the locker room is a lot nicer place to be these days.

wake up the dream is over

Post by FalconAlum »

For all of the people bashing Pooch, wake up and realize the dream is over. Myself and many other players I know that played for him loved to play for him. He is doing as much as he can to turn the program around. There is not much he can do when it comes to recruiting when you compare the facilities that are in BG to the facilities that some of the other teams have in the NCAA. Pooch has been there a short period of time and has a track record of a lot fo players making it to the next level. I am sick of hearing the negative comments from players, some of which i am sure were my teammates at some point, which is obviously the reason that we could not win as many games as we liked, too many selfish players. like myself, not everyone can go on with a career in hockey after college but one coach can't be blamed for not having everyone go on to play pro hockey and players need to accept that. So everyone grow up and maybe focus on putting some money into the program for some new facilities raher than worry about a problem that doesn't exist.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is so nice to hear some positives from some of Pooch's players. We knew they had to be out there somewhere. :D

Falconalum, I can't believe that there is a player that played for coach that actually enjoyed it. I am seriously going through my mind and searching as to who you could be. I have come up with no one. Therefore I have no choice but to say that you are a someone who didn't play under Pooch. You are making it all up.
At least that is the comments that were given to me all the rest of the people who dislike Pooch. Its amazing that when someone comes on to give Pooch praise then everyone believes every word. But when there are comments that others don't agree with then it is us that are liars.
Weird.
Falconalum, you must have been part of the people (2people) that Pooch actually paid attention to in the dressingroom, or even noticed was around, or even alive. Except of course when it came to critizing, then it was everyone else but you that Pooch talked to. You know who you are.

Come on B.D., did you ever listen to any of the other players that may not have agreed with you and your buddies opinions? The louder you are the less you hear.

well obviously the person will grow up, what other option do they have. So does that mean they don't have to shut up?
