Let's Cut The Attendance Trash Talk

Post by MACReport »

I have just posted an article at MAC Report Online discussing the current 15k attendance rule and setting straight the actual process and penalties, with plenty of commentry thrown in.

I can absolutely assure everybody that no teams will drop to 1AA because of this rule.

Read it here: http://www.macreportonline.com/15k_rule.html

Thanks for posting that. A good read. However I fear it will fall on the deaf ears of those that believe the BCS is really run by the Illuminati, that the BCS schools know who really killed Kennedy and the turth about Roswell.

"Frankly, at this point, if any school does not have the ability to pull off some simple attendance hijinks to satisfy this new rule, they probably should be relegated to the junior college ranks just for a lack of ingenuity. "

Looking at this quote from the article, it makes me wonder what is really going on at BG that we can't pull off some of these simple Hijinks to meet this requirement?

Seems that a couple of other schools in the same situation have figured this out.

I don't think hijinks is the proper word to use. When I think of hijinks, I think of putting a horse in the dean's office, using a nude picture of the head cheerleader as the lining of a pie plate or streaking through the quad. Maybe "sneaky tatics" is better.

I think by the time the 2008 season rolls around, the AD's office will have figured out how to cook the books so that this will never be an issue.

So poor attendance will never, ever hurt BG in terms of bowl eligibility or D-1A status. That's good news.

This really sucks...the focus used to be on building a great team and improving actual attendance. Now the focus is on finding ways to paper the crowd.

Thank you, NCAA...thank you for creating artificial, irrelevant standards that force us to take the focus off of what happens on the field and put it where it really belongs...the f**king grandstands.

We should just drop on down to D1aa and keep it real simple instead of them pushing us and the others out. but then again maybe our fans are like a certin coach that beats the dead formation horse....oh well...

At one time, BGSU (and/or the entire conference) was actually relegated to I-AA for part of a season. I think it was when I was in college, maybe high school. We were one of the top ranked I-AA teams.

Still, while no one is worried about dropping to I-A, wouldn't loss of a potential bowl appearence be a problem sometime in the future? (please don't make any comments about how far we are from a bowl team now.)

It was 1982 or 1983 ('82, I think)... though I don't know the reason why that happened. I have a 1983 media guide around here somewhere... maybe I should read up a little bit.

The MAC was 1-AA in 1982. Andre Young was a 1-AA All American for BG. When 1983 rolled around, the MAC was back in 1-A.

Why the drop? It just seems odd to me that an entire conference would drop down to 1AA for only one season then come back up again.

It's just like talking to a brick wall, only the wall has a chance of understanding what you are saying! And I love how the loyalty question comes up. Way to play the "If you are not with us, you are against us card."
