Joe, I thought the same thing last night. They are going to need to hit from behind the arc to be successful this year. Now I got there late with 14:00 to go in the first half, but the way the first half was going, I thought they'd hit 100+ tonight. They had quite a long time before they had a shot made in the second half.JoeFalcon wrote:It's remarkable that they were able to put up close to 100 points and go 5 for 25 on three's.
I know it's just an exhibition and I don't mean to nitpick, but the perimeter shooting was very streaky last year as well and needs to improve in order for the goals of the team to be met.
I did like the play of the ladies off the bench, particularly McCall.
We will see a lot about this team when they play Notre Dame. My dad and I are going to that game. Dad is an ND grad and we used to go to women's basketball games there all the time when I was younger. Coach McGraw always has her teams ready to play. I think we are the better team, but we'll need to play like it to steal a road win there. (By the way, I will be wearing BGSU stuff for that game, just in case anyone was wondering!)
I'm ready for 2006-07 BABY!

This team, as always, will be vulnerable when they settle for threes early in the shot clock. One of the only weaknesses of this group is that they sometimes will get away from the offense and just start jacking up threes early in the game. These are the types of games where lesser teams will hang with us for 2/3 of the game. Miller has shown he has the ability to talk them out of that as the games go along. I think with the added experience, we'll probably see this less this year.
I don't mean we shouldn't shoot threes, as that's been a big weapon for us. I just mean we need to let the perimeter shots happen naturally. When the ladies do that, our percentage ends up being much higher, and they're almost unbeatable at the MAC level with the defense they play. This is going to be a special season.
