Okay, okay, Pete was wrong for saying that he was embarrassed to be a BGSU graduate because the football team lost to Temple. Perhaps maybe he should have said, " As a loyal BGSU alumnus, booster, and football fan I must say I am embarrassed by our loss to Temple on Saturday." Other than that comment, there really isn't any other BG bashing in the article. So what is the problem? Many worse things have been said about our program since the loss on Saturday and I don't see anyone calling those reporters "dicks". I also never saw any posts of Pete’s articles over the past few seasons where he boldly endorsed BGSU to the people of Florida. Since Pete is a BGSU alum, he is not allowed to criticize? Part of being a true fan is not blindly following your team no matter what. People that do that are called Buckeye fans. A true fan will always support their team and wish them well, but call for change when change is needed.
As far as Pete saying Boo BG....I have been to every home game and heard every person in the crowd Boo loudly as we dropped in to our swinging gate punt formation. We were booing to show our disapproval, knowing that a blocked punt for a touchdown was just moments away. Pete booed to show disapproval for losing to Temple. There were probably more people "booing" our team at the game (all of which were BG fans) than there will be people who read Pete's article.
Last but not least....H2oville....Omar Jacobs is the only player in BGSU history to be good enough to leave early for the NFL? Are you kidding?? I think that almost every single player that has ever played for BGSU was good enough to leave early to never play in the NFL! Perhaps the most pathetic thing I have seen in all my years as a sports fan was seeing Omar Jacobs on the sidelines during the BG Wisconsin game, a game in which he should have played, the day he got cut from the Steelers, cloaked in a hooded sweatshirt. I was embarrassed for him.
I know Pete personally, he was one of my roommates for 2 years and I would put his BGSU spirit toe to toe with anyone’s in this forum.

I don't doubt it, but it was the little Buckeye comment that draws ire. I think it's safe to say most everyone here is tired of this I go/went to BG but like OSU crap. They're a rival, not a superior.KOBGSU wrote:I know Pete personally, he was one of my roommates for 2 years and I would put his BGSU spirit toe to toe with anyone’s in this forum.

Other than that comment? Wasn't that comment the epitome of bashing a school? Any further negative comments beyond that would pale in comparison.Okay, okay, Pete was wrong for saying that he was embarrassed to be a BGSU graduate because the football team lost to Temple. What was the point of even writing the article when the paper is in FL anyway?

Right - there is no reason whatsoever to badmouth your alma mater in this way in any paper, especially when it is just a thin veil for some more Ohio State rah-rah BS. This guy may be a Falcon through and through, but he sure has a piss-poor way of showing it. Anyone in Florida reading that article would be inclined to assume that he was cutting all ties with his alma mater - he certainly gives no indication that his support for BGSU will continue in any way.San Diego Falcon wrote:Other than that comment? I don't boo our kids when they screw up on the field (court...ice...whatever). But, booing an individual is a far cry from booing an entire institution. It takes a real dick to do that.
The OSU stuff is far more demonstrative of his shortcomings than BGSU's...nobody likes a front runner

Exactly! "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"San Diego Falcon wrote:Other than that comment? Wasn't that comment the epitome of bashing a school? I'm a former BG News sports editor, too, who spent time covering the team during some "glory days." And I can tell you that I am not embarrassed by our loss to Temple. Disappointed? Yep. Angry? You bet. Humbled? Sure thing. But no way am I embarrassed. I am, however, embarrassed to have guys like this let everyone know they graduated from BGSU.

Why be pissed at this guy for being mad that we lost to freaking TEMPLE.
I seem to remember reading this board the day off and after and seeing all of the same crap being said. It's alright if we do it here but if someone else has the same opinion in a different medium then we should tar and feather him!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember anyone around here saying they were going to cut ties to the university and become an OSU fan because we lost to Temple.aaronBG10 wrote:Why be pissed at this guy for being mad that we lost to freaking TEMPLE.

This douchebox might not have meant it that way, but it is certainly how it came across. For people in Florida, who might not have ever even heard of BG until reading that column, it isn't a very good impression of our alumni and fan base.

Leave the spelling out of it...TG1996 wrote:With that attitude and those spelling skills, I'm embarrassed to have HIM as a BGSU graduate.
he clearly doest recall or care aobut the years after Joe pa was in hs that BGSU was Ranked...he needs a history of BGSU football history.
Change does however seem to fuel this team...maybe its good GB took a call from NC and FL ST last week.

If he needs any help with his resume, he can call me anytime.
IMO, Brandon would make a fantastic OC at a FSU type school with lots of offensive toys to play with. We miss him being OC more than he hurts us as the HC.
