BG Sports memorabilia

Post by NY-BG-FAN »

In trying to soften the blow from today's crushing loss, I wanted to find something positive to do. I'm curious to know what cool BG memorbila items people have. Obviously, I was born yesterday so my list is short and contained to mostly recent stuff, but I've gotten some pretty cool stuff since becoming a student:

Josh Harris signed mini helmet
Omar Jacobs signed mini helmet
2004 Football Schedule poster signed by Magner, Burkes, Mruc, and Newson (Who are all featured on it)
Nike Football signed by entire 2004 team, (I had Omar and Cole sign on each Swoosh, it's sweet)
2004 Basketball poster signed by Almanson, Reimold, and Eyink
1984 National Championship Hockey poster signed by the team (from that anniversary weekend when everyone was in town)
Rob Blake signed hockey puck and his bobblehead
Brian Holzinger signed puck (A sentimental favorite due to him being a former Sabre)
George McPhee signed puck
Nolan Reimold signed New York-Penn League Baseball (When he played for Aberdeen.)
Signed Chris Hoiles Baseball Card. (A stretch I know)

What do you have?

Great post!

Two Falcon football helmets (one in my office and the other I take on the road to college fairs)

2003 (?) Orange jersey from the Motor City Bowl (framed and hanging in my office)

1984 Hockey Jersey signed by 10 members of the championship team (framed and waiting to be hung in my office)

Hockey Stick signed by the 1980 Hockey Team (which includes Ken Morrow and Mark Wells from the '80 Olympic Team and future Hobey Baker Award winner George McPhee - and it will hang above the hockey jersey as soon as I am in the office for a while). Thank you to Macman for selling it to me!

Autographed football from the 2004 team (displayed in a case in my office along with my GMAC Bowl ticket stub and some beads from the Mardi Gras parade).

1917 Bowling Green Normal College Men's Basketball picture (again, hanging in my office).

8x10 photo of Corso and Herbstreit from the GameDay program with Corso wearing Freida's head

8X10 photo of Cole Magner making a spectacular dive at the goalline at the Motor City Bowl (actually someone who knows Cole has the pic and is trying to get him to sign it)

A 3' X 2' picture of Paul Yzebart which used to hang in the outer lobby area of McFall Center

Motor City Bowl mini football

GMAC Bowl mini football

I also have a stuffed Freddie Falcon with Mardi Gras beads and a beanie freshman males used to wear. Numerous pictures of BG Normal College (1920's-1950's). A pic of the 1924 graduating class. Key Yearbooks (1924-1930), some old BeeGee Newspapers from the 1920's, graduation programs from the 1930's, and other BG memorabilia (God how I love eBay).

I have a nice BG tailgating mat (6' x 5') laying out on the floor of my office.

Great thread:

11X14 frames with a collage of tickets stubs from all Falcon football and men's basketball games that I have attended.

8X11 autograph of Harris' pass to Sharon at Purdue in 2003. I want to get a picture of Sharon catching the ball also.

Full-size helmet like the helmet from the 2003 season.

Mini helmets of the 2003 model and current. Also have a small mini-helmet commemorating the Motor City Bowl win.

A Motor City Bowl mini football. Really mad that I didn't get a GMAC Bowl ball, but I didn't see them.

Freddie Falcon bobblehead doll and a couple stuffed Freddies.

Autographed basketball from the 2004-2005 men's team with Reimold and Almanson.

2003 "Won the West" poster featuring Harris and Patton.

I don't know that I have anything "standout" as far as autographs or helmets and such, but I've got a decent collection of game programs from football/basketball/hockey in the mid-90's, as well as final stat books to go with many of them.

I've got a bunch of media guides, both BG and around the MAC (and other opponents) from the same time frame.

A couple "BEAT TOLEDO" signs pulled off the kiosks around campus, and other "GAME THIS WEEKEND!" type signs from the same kiosks and a "yard sign" from the '04 Homecoming that was out by the tents after the game. (That, uh, a friend of a friend, um, left at my place. )

I have a 1926 Key yearbook (and 93-96, too, somewhere) a whole bunch of schedule magnets and cards, other giveaway type stuff from various games, including a button commemorating the 1,000th win in school history vs. EMU in '96 or so. And a button from the Athletic Archive that Mickey Cochrane gave me a few weeks ago.

Probably not one single item that would pull more than $2 on eBay, but, like transfer (of whom I'm incredibly jealous about now), there's a bunch of really cool sentimental stuff in my collection.

Evidently they were thrown out at the parade. I bought mine on eBay. It's a soft football that has the GMAC Bowl logo on it, but not the teams. My guess is they bought a ton of those puppies.

Yeah, I caught one of those at the parade. If I can find it (it's packed away somewhere right now) and someone wants it really bad, let me know via PM. I'm not too attached to it. My memories from that weekend are enough for me! Please note that it may take me some time to pull it out of the [moving] wreckage...

I have a promisory note signed by someone in financial aid :-D

But seriously...
I have uh, 6? gameworn BGSU hockey jerseys. Most of them are signed by the player[s] who wore them.

...the poster of the 1984 national championship team signed from that weekend they were back.

...a Brian Holzinger Buffalo Sabres jersey that's signed (not really BG, I know, but he went to BG).

...a birthday card that my friends managed to get signed by the entire 2001-02 hockey team (coaching staff, too).

...a Key yearbook from the year I graduated, but I fess up to buying it only because they took a picture of me at graduation for it (the lady liked my cap).

Oh! And this one isn't exactly BG, but cool nonetheless: a Detroit Red Wings practice puck (game puck that was too shabby for game use anymore) that happened to find its way into my coat pocket when BGSU played at the Joe in the 2000-01 CCHA playoffs.

Probably some more stuff I'm forgetting right now.

I have a Mike Liut game-used stick as well as one of Ken Morrow's. They're from pro teams they played for. Both of them played for BG when I went to school there. Liut's stick looks like he whacked it against the pipes!

All I really have is a Volleyball signed by the 2006-2007 team. It was a "Thank You" from Coach Van De Walle for doing the banquet slideshow/video that year...first time they ever had game highlights in it!
