Thanks for the link...you're right an interesting article...wonder why they didn't mention at least part of the reason he came to BG was that his brother was playing b-ball here.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Has his splits for the year. He could get the RISP average up a little, but it is early.

A quick Reimold update. Nolan went 3 for 4 yesterday with a homerun and walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth. He leads Frederick in BA (.328), R (28), H (43), HR (6), and RBIs (27). He is second in 2B (13) and Steals (10).

Most of the linked article is on how Nolan's absence, due to a foot and back injury, has negatively impacted the Frederick Keys. It sounds like he's close to coming back though, he's been out since June 4th.

Nolan, after sitting out a couple weeks due to injury, finally broke out of a major slump Sat. He went 2 for 4 with a HR. Before that, he was 1 for his last 32 with 12 Ks.

Nolan looks like he is having some issues staying healthy. Great site with more than just game logs:

"Reimold could be powerful figure"
There was a nice article in the Baltimore Sun today about Nolan. It's worth a look.

Nolan has been selected to play for the Grand Canyon Rafters in the Arizona Fall League. Most of the players selected to play in this league are AA and AAA players. However, each major league club can opt to send one player considered a Class A player and Nolan just happens to be Baltimore's selection. This is likely a good indication that he'll be playing in at least AA ball to start next season.

Nolan got ranked the 6th best prospect in the 8 team Carolina league by Baseball America. Here is his writeup:
After helping Frederick win the 2005 league title at the conclusion of his pro debut, Reimold returned to the Keys and drew split opinions among scouts. Some viewed him as a true five-tool player, while others saw him as nothing more than a fourth outfielder.
Reimold's two best tools--his power and his speed--both grade as 65 on the 20-80 scouting scale. He can get a little too pull-conscious at times, but he does have a good knowledge of the strike zone. He's an average right fielder with a strong, accurate arm.
Those not sold on Reimold think he'll lose speed as he gets older and will have to move first base. They recognize his power, but say he has an uppercut swing that leaves him with holes that more advanced pitchers will exploit.
Q & A with the Carolina league players:
Q: Adam from NYC asks:
What was the main concern with Nolan Reimold this season? I have heard that he is a legit 5-tool talent, but it seems his stock has dropped quite a bit. Any room for concern with his projectability?
Chris Kline: No better place to start in this league than Reimold. If you want to see a group of scouts argue, just mention his name. Some see legit five tools, some see a future fourth outfielder with some power. In everything I found on Reimold this year, it seems he was exposed on the inner half at times, but I think he's somewhere in between the five-tool guy and the fourth outfielder. He has more than enough arm for right field--with accuracy--and he has enough power to stay there. He's not a plus runner, and he probably doesn't translate to hit for much average in the big leagues, but he has enough tools and the makeup to be an everyday guy in right.
From today's Baseball America chat:
Q: Tom T from Houston asks:
Two questions on Nolan Reimold - what is it about his swing that makes some scounts question whether his power will translate to the majors? His walk numbers would suggest that he can wait for his pitch. Second, is there a chance that he could move over to CF? For those of us that don't believe in Corey Patterson, the birds will need a new player there soon. Thanks!
A: Will Lingo: I think the major question about Reimold's bat is that some scouts just see him as a mistake hitter, and as he moves up he'll get fewer of those mistakes to hit. No one doubts that he can drive the ball a long way when he gets ahold of it. He also gets in trouble when he gets pull-happy. Also, I don't see him as a center fielder on an everyday basis. He can fill in there, but he's much better suited to a corner.
