Yeah just another pooch post but I noticed that the best season that he has had during his four year term here at bg was in the 2004-2005 season when they went 16-16-4. How many more years til he is gone if he can't turn it around any guesses? I would have to say after this year he will have 2 more years but yeah it all depends if he can turn the team around.

I think that he will build fro lastyears horific finish, which was due mostly in part to players not having the drive to play or will to win.
This years kids will finish well. He will then have to improve again the next season, if not you may be right....4 more season.
I am not worried, cause the turn around was not going to be instant, after the destruction Powers was allowed to bring on the program, and now we are competing with schools who have been on top, have better facilites, and none of the kids now know or care about our past. REBUILDING TAKES TIME lots of time. Sticking with pooch and riding the change the coach every couple of years coaster is the best move. What would boost our program more than any new coach (save the return of Ron) would be building a new rink atop the tennis courts, big ice, new new new new.
Some say it has little to no impact, but the fact is, by doing it, we know were losing because we play in the bat cave.
I understand we have only so much money in our AD, and the addition to the arena was a nice enhancment we need to do more. We are an icon in the CCHA and we need treat our program that way, the players, the fans, the university and CCHA deserve that much.

Macman, that was cute, completely wrong but cute. Seriously do everyone on this site a favor and keep your opinions to yourself, it will stop others from becoming even dumber. The more you talk the more it is clear you know little to nothing about the game of hockey. Rebuilding takes time, 4 years isn't enough? He has all his own players there now, what else is there to rebuild.
I have a feeling you are a relative of Pooch becuase only a relative could back such a losing coach. Check the record, it sucks, you can blame it on the players of last year if you want but why then where the other years, not that good. Statistics show that when a new coach comes in the record usually improves by at least a couple games but not Pooch. It got worse when he came in.
If he can't make a decent team out of this one this year, he should be gone this year!

bigdog....that's where you're somewhat wrong. Up until last year the team was showing steady improvement. The record is as follows:
01 - 02 (Buddy Powers last year) 9-25-6
02 - 03 (Pooch's first year) 8-25-3
03 - 04 11-18-9
04 - 05 16-16-4
05 - 06 13-23-2

As you can see, until last year, steady improvement was being realized. Given that, the majority of last year's seniors have taken the bulk of the blame and, IMO, rightly so. They were by far the most vocal Pooch bashing class of all of the classes NOT recruited by him. Even Inside College Hockey picked up on that if anyone cares to look at their pre-season article there's a note at the bottem concerning the state of the locker room this year. So, given these facts, how are we supposed to view your arguments?

Revision: All of you keep telling us to look at the facts. I brought the above record facts to light in a previous post which all of you chose to ignore. I'm looking at the facts and they're pointing me in a different direction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you don't have a beef but until you give us concrete evidence to the contrary I'll believe the facts that I can see.

Sorry, but there's a difference between being competitive and being a winner. While these stats may show improvement towards being competitive, they are nowhere near what it takes to be a winner. Just my uneducated opinion though.

Did you read his post concerning incremental improvements each year? Did you really read anything other than the records? Let me help you:

I was simply pointing out that, until last year, those improvements were happening. Bigdog made it look like no improvements had been occuring what so ever.

Come on. Pooch had very little to work with when he came in here. He was a new coach with no history to help his recruiting cause. Even the almighty Red Berenson at Michigan took 6 years to turn that program around. Why? If you don't have much to work with it takes time to rotate the old guard out and replace it with the new. THUS the incremental improvements. If there is no improvement these next two years THEN I'll consider the need for a new coach.

Sorry, I am just so tired of you guys ripping on posters that do not share your opinion. Maybe you all should remember, these "players" are the very same people you were praising not so long ago, and now that they are telling you situations that went on behind the scenes you are leaving them high and dry. I don't care who they are, you say they are whiners, and they gave up, I don't know one hockey player on this years or last years team that EVER gave up! If they gave up they would have quit...and they didn't! They love the game and the program as much, if not MORE than you do! You say they have a bone to pick, maybe they do, maybe they just want to see their friends and former teamates treated better than they were.???? Just something to think about.

You ask them to identify themselves, why would they do that after the way you have all treated them. They do not ask you to identify yourselves...

You ask them if they went to the AD about the situation, I do believe letters were written only to fall on deaf ears.

Until the win column out weighs the lose column I don't look at that record as much of an improvement.

What we are looking for are documented examples of players being mistreated. NO ONE has been able to present this yet so we have no reason to believe them.

Also, when one of these former players comes on here and insults the biggest fans and supporters of the teams there's going to be some anger.

We expect maturity on this board and part of that is honesty which is something that's been missing with these rumors.

I'll ask again of all the Pooch haters: Please provide documented examples of players being mistreated.

What documentation do you require, how can they or anyone else prove what is happening? Are there cameras and hidden microphones in the locker room. Are you expecting a current player to come out a say YES this is happening??? Ummmm, Yeah not unless they don't want to play for the rest of their college career!

Maturity???? Hmm, I do believe the insults went both ways! And don't they started it!!!! I do admit that the language got a bit heated, but that too was on both sides.

I NEVER asked them to identify themselves because I know who most of them are. I also never said that I didn't believe them. All I want to know is what, exactly, went on. Bigdog claimed that there has been no improvement since Paluch came here. I believe otherwise and provided the proof. The only thing they've provided thus far are innuendos but no facts. If there have been or are problems then tell us EXACTLY what they are. The only thing I hear is "He's a terrible coach", "He's stupid", and "He treats his players badly". These are nothing more than innuendos and name calling. GIVE ME SOME EXAMPLES. What did/does the coach do that warrents these accusations. In particular, how did/does he treat the players badly. If we find them as horrible as these players make them out to be who knows what could happen. Letters may be written by people who would not otherwise do so. Or lurkers could read this that have more power than any of us do.

That is all that I'm asking for and have been asking for. Thus far, I haven't received it therefore I'm calling bigdog out because I'm tired of him skirting the issues and bending facts. Since he's been one of the most vocal here of late I'm asking him to lay it all out.

How, specifically, do you as former players believe that Coach Paluch's coaching style is inadequite? How, specifically, was this supposed "favoritism" that some of you keep referencing handed out? How, specifically, did any of this impede your ability to play for this coach.

Quite frankly I am sick to friggin' death of reading this crap over and over and over and over again when NOTHING specific is ever mentioned? You want to have credibility and you don't want to give out your names? Fine. Great! Why not try giving us some examples of the mistreatment that has you panties so bunched up? That might start to give you, and more importantly, your viewpoints, a little bit of credibility. This "POOCH SUCKS AND BG WILL NEVER WIN WITH HIM AS COACH! I'M A FORMER PLAYER SO YOU SHOULD BELIEVE ME! WHAT? YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME? I JUST TOLD YOU I WAS A FORMER PLAYER! hey glass jaw, the more you cry the more show us why you helped to sabotage this team last year, with your other nefarious weak sticks. You have NO HEART, NO SOUL and NO LOVE for this team, its traditions or for its future. You are most likely the bigest blow hard I have seen. You had a chance to put up or shut up, and you choose to pull your tail between your legs, you call yourself BIG dog, well the toy poodel just wiped the floor with you. Why? your all bark.

Pooch is the best thing for this team right now, and as the season progresses more of the nay sayers will be seeing the truth, and the following year some will be believers.

Dont listen to the Benidct Arnol coward dog. he did not make a stand as player, he does not care now, and his only motivation to further destroy this program!

difference of opion on a BB is a way of. So is truth. This is a FAN SITE FOR BGSU sports and not a forum for whine ass cowards who hide behind monitors, the fool should be baned for being disruptive, negtive and if he played for BGSU for degrading BGSU Hockey.

I ask this because any and all the posters that have come on this board and are not all as "happy, happy, joy, joy" about Pooch and the program as you are have been, are totally shut down. I really don't want to go back through all the posts and name all the those posters that you have called stupid and that they didn't know any thing about what they were talking about, there have been numerous!
