Jeremy Bronson
I am a Jeremy Bronson fan. Does anyone know why Jeremy, a three year letterman has only played in three games so far this year ? (Once as a defenseman and twice as a forward) Jeremy hasn't played this little since he hurt his knee (ligament damage) in his second season as a Falcon. To me Jeremy could be the BGSU poster boy for intercollegiate athletics. He made a verbal commitment to come play hockey at BGSU (his hometown)as a walk-on with the idea that a hockey scholarship would be offered the second year. It is my understanding that Jeremy turned down two hockey scholarships at other schools because of his prior verbal commitment to BGSU. Integrity. Jeremy did get a scholarship this year, an academic one while in Grad school for accounting.
I hope to see more of Jeremy Bronson on the ice as the season progresses.

I, too, would like to see more of Jeremy. It's hard telling why he hasn't played as much. There are only so many slots available each game and maybe they are trying to give many of the new players a chance to play or show what they can do. That is only speculation on my part though! I also think it's very impressive that he has stuck around after graduation. Doing graduate level coursework during the hockey season is very difficult!! Hopefully we will see more of him!!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I will tell you why he isn't playing. It is becuase he had to do an internship this year and was unable to come back and workout everyday with the team. He did still try and showed his face and made the long road trip to come back and work out with the team on days that he could. Pooch dislikes the fact that Jeremy was unable to come back for the whole summer and workout. Imagine a player having to do something else to progress his future and graduate than just hockey.

Jeremy Bronson topic
Big Dog, Wow, are you saying that there are those that have hard feelings for a player that gets a great internship during the summer and then a great job offer from that intership it? If this is true what does it say about priorities? Commitment is more than lifting weights in the weight room all summer ? Isn't it? Is being a student/athlete an oxymorn? I hope not !!! GO #5 you got class!!!

Only one thing I disagree with there, if memory serves, Jeremy was recruited by Pooch wasn't he??? Is that still considered "walking on"?
I absolutely agree he could be a poster boy for BGSU and the Hockey program! Here is a kid that graduated in THREE years, and I believe with a pretty nice GPA! Waits to do an internship over the summer, and was offered a job???!!!,but the kid then sticks around and is doing the same thing all while taking graduate courses!!!? WHEW!
So now, after all that he doesn't play???? Wasn't he first line penalty kill last year? I have to say 10 min. MISCONDUCT to Pooch on that one!!!!
I too hope to see more of Jeremy ON THE ICE!!
sorry I can't help myself, but I truly believe that bronson is the number 7 D on this team talent wise. Should he be playing instead of a freshman who is better than him just because he's a senior? However, I will say it's a stroke of genius to put him on 4th line at forward because we need his toughness and he can go out and teach these younger players how to be men and hit somebody at this level. (probably Cole's idea, haha) I am in no way bashing bronnie. I know he has a great job waiting for him when he graduates, and he will look back some day that this year was one of his best because he sucked it up and didn't quit.
i agree with the talent aspect but I think BG needs someone tough on D, someone that will standup for the goalie when it has to be done and someone that other players on other teams will be worried about. Most of the d-men on BG are soft. Brony deserves to play. Playing on forward is the dumbest thing in the world, for one Brony isn't going to be excited to play there cause he doesn't know what to do very well. Plus he is taking a spot from a forward, getting sat for a player that doesn't even play your position feels awful.

Looked to me like he knew what he was doing playing forward at both the Miami game and against Lake Superior. The line he played on at Miami was the most productive of the bunch, although the score didn't show it. They were the only one to keep the puck in the offensive zone.
Disagree on the talent aspect as well, Bronson is a defensive defensman! Which means to me the he keeps that puck from crossing that blueline. It is a very rare occasion that he loses or leaves his man, and if he does leave them it's cause their on the ground. Last season he was playing 1st line penalty kill, penalty kill was not the problem last year defensively. The problem defensively, was defensive breakdowns on the offensive lines. The stats from last year prove that Bronson is a good defensive player that has quite a bit of talent and strength and that is what the team needed last year and this year. He hustles everytime he is on that ice!
## Name GP G A Pts Shots Pct +/-
2 Michael Hodgson 38 2 9 11 52 .038 -11
3 Don Morrison 38 6 16 22 57 .105 -16
5 Jeremy Bronson 35 1 2 3 16 .062 -3
23 Brandon Svendsen 38 10 9 19 141 .071 -14
26 Mike Nesdill 34 2 8 10 44 .045 +4
10 Kevin Schmidt 35 1 7 8 40 .025 -4
24 Jon Sitko 25 0 2 2 26 .000 -14
6 Russ Sinkewich 20 0 1 1 7 .000 +4
Ending last season with a -3 plus/minus says alot about his talent as a defensman, especially since he is a true defensive defenseman and doesn't get to play offensively much! That is what I would like to him do more of take that puck and go! BRONSON SHOULD BE ON THE ICE.
A couple years ago BJ Adams, one of the best defensive defensemen to play at BG in awhile, saw some time at forward....as the extra attacker at the end of a few games. His job was to stand in front of the net and screen. Bronson is a good fit at forward because he is very physical. Saturday night it looked like he was having a lot of fun out there. I agree that he does need to see more playing time and right now I think he'd play any position.heyman wrote:However, I will say it's a stroke of genius to put him on 4th line at forward because we need his toughness and he can go out and teach these younger players how to be men and hit somebody at this level.
I think this is one of the reasons it looks like he is having so much fun out there. He doesn't have to worry about what he's going to do next year. He has nobody that he needs to impress. He truly is playing for the love of the game right now.heyman wrote:I know he has a great job waiting for him when he graduates, and he will look back some day that this year was one of his best because he sucked it up and didn't quit.
