You two weren't wasting any time, were ya?

Back on topic... I can't believe I forgot the bets on the intermission skaters!

And recycling the wadded up newspaper when the opponents left the ice between periods.

and the ever hip sound of the organ...da da da da daaaaaaa

the kids lining either side of the ramp to the locker rooms, each with a mit out asking for sticks.

Showing up mid week to watch practice and having a falcon logo puck kindly fliped your way.

My son smiling and proclaiming, "I want to play hockey DAd, and go BASHING other guys around....UMMMM BASSHIIIINNG!!!!!!"
I think I have a goon on my hands...3 1/2 years old, 44" tall and 54lbs....and one happy lil guy...got his first puck fliped his way two weeks ago and has been making black marks all over my freshly painted walls. :-)

OK, I'm going to play proud mama here--back in the dark ages watching my son as Freddie skating at the games and also skating at Joe Louis Arena at a CCHA tournament.

The entire ice arena booing every time O'niel (Notre Dame) touched the puck.

My first hockey game at BG, also the day I realized hockey was a lot more exciting than anyone had ever told me.
Yeah right girl!

A lot of shared memories here.

Quarter up/quarter down was a classic. Newspapers, section A, screaming and fighting for a bird thrown puck. "That's debatable!" and "That's open for conjecture!" were always fun.

I mostly loved playing Rocky when the team came back out onto the ice. I always loved that.

I, too, loved the walk to and fro the ice arena. It was always so damned cold.

But mostly, I just loved watching some of the best hockey games ever played right in my own back yard. I'm so hungry for those days again.

How about Paul Olscamp answering the call, and allowing the student section to pass him down from the top row to the glass?

Speaking of those "dark ages" ...Remember when we beat MSU at the Joe in the semi final game 1988? We were all screaming our heads off after getting beaten by those egg-suckers up there SOOO many times before!! This old lady in the ugly green hat came down the steps and shook her finger at me and told me I was "disgusting!" She just couldn't stand BG beating MSU at "Munn East!!" We all got such a laugh out of that one!!!! (and Pooch was the captain of that team, btw)

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

That was such a riot to watch! For some reason, I just can't picture that happening to Sidney!! :-D

Watching the 1984 champoinship game while 7 1/2 months pregnant and having Ian Duncan's dad pick me up and twirl me around when we won. It became very clear why Ian was so very strong!

Standing in line at the doors and bitching because one of the other doors opened 4 seconds before yours. Running like heck for seats behind the other teams bench!

THAT was awesome! First Freddie, then Frieda. Then "We want Paul!" chants started.

How about him singing Oh Canada?

I remember that. If I recall correctly wasn't that during the previously mentioned delay due to the ref taking a puck to the head?

I remember hanging about following games to try and get a puck from the guys who would t the goals in... and how excited I was to get one.

I remember parking with my dad in the Saddlemire/Library/Memorial Hall lot and hoofing it in the bitter cold to get to the rink... and one time seeing Fred and Frieda Falcon making the same walk.

When we played the US national team remembering how much bigger and stronger those guys seemed.

Taking in an NCAA tourney game, vs. Maine?, at the arena.

Watching MSU coach Ron Mason go down like a rock after being hit in the head with a puck. The whole arena held their breath until he got up and finished coaching the game.

Watching the Falcons go up against the USSR at the old Richfield Colloseum. We got clobbered and we were ranked in the top 10. It was like watching men against boys.

On a side note, we were following the team bus to that game and a hunk of metal flew out from under the bus and broke our windshield. I could still see to drive but it was hairy. We had a CB in the car (yes it was a while ago) and were in contact with the bus driver the rest of the way to the arena. Nice guy....he wanted to make sure that we arrived safely.

Mine will be more recent, and a little bit different due to the fact that I wasnt allowed to cheer...

--Having to learn to mumble sarcastically since I wasnt allowed to cheer.
--The once or twice a season I'd forget I wasnt allowed to cheer and bellowing either "YES" or "NO" at the top of my lungs.
--Me and one of the other guys (you know who you are!) jumping three feet backwards out of our chairs simultaneously when Ryan Wetterberg FINALLY scored on a breakaway to help put us in the playoffs in the final game of the regular season (2000-01).
--Every moment of the playoffs that year.
--The other guys on the crew flipping me crap everytime a certain player on the ice made a miscue (any guesses as to which player?).
--Getting Spots delivered right before the game.
--Taking a diet Pepsi to the concession stand and trading it for a Dr. Pepper. (I did this at least once a game until someone with some authority got us Dr. Pepper).

There's a couple others, but I can't decide whether to share them or keep them to myself.
