Recruiting
Recruiting
I have not been to any games this year.Yea I know why not I work 6 days a week 2 shift right now and I live 2 hours away. But was I was wondering If anybody has heard how the recruiting has been doing? Seen any recruits at any of the games? I would think the Sebo would have to help out as far as a selling point. Brother In law used to work for team and still goes to BG and still hangs out with some of the team and workers and he told me that Brandon sucks as a coach and he lived off of Urban for his first couple of years. Also said that he has heard that Brandon wants to leave for a HC or Off Cord at bigger school while the gettin is good for him.

Probably -- since Brandon already had the chance to leave and didn't, and the gettin' is most certainly not good for him right now.
I have no doubt he'll end up on his feet as an OC somewhere, and a good one, but I think the days of other schools trying to hire him as HC are gone.

Re: Recruiting
If you want some recruiting "leads"...go to Scout.com:football recruiting...there's a long list of kids we've supposedly been in contact with, including offered. Only ONE kid I've heard of so far, a WR out of Mich., has verballed, according to Scout.FALCON29 wrote:I have not been to any games this year.Yea I know why not I work 6 days a week 2 shift right now and I live 2 hours away. He still talks to a bunch of the football players and some of the staff meembers almost everyday.I am not on here trying stir anything up and make you guys mad. Just telling you guys what I was told.

If your brother in law told you that the "gettin is good" for Gregg Brandon right now, your sister should divorce him.

I believe what he's saying is true, except for the Brandon leaving part. The getting is not good for Brandon to leave, and it never has been. Anyone that believes for a second he turned down job opportunities elsewhere is fooling themselves.
"Pulled name out of the running" is coachspeak for, "They told me I was no longer being considered."
Unless some team offers him a fat payraise as an OC, I don't see him leaving any time soon. His window to get a decent HC job is long gone...how could you ever sell your alumni on hiring the only coach to lose to Temple in 2006?
HAHA Good luck with that one.

Or was it the rumored $600,000 buyout that stopped UNLV from offering the job?Tricky_Falcon wrote:I have no reason to defend Brandon, but he was on his way out when UNLV wanted him. People inside the athletic department convinced him to stay.

I tend to think the buyout would have been an issue, if it was an issue, much sooner in the process. I remember seeing a couple of guys wearing UNLV leather jackets at the hockey game the saturday night when the "Brandon's leaving" rumors were running hot.
coincidence? perhaps...perhaps not!
