Big East Commissioner Mike Tranghese
I was just listening to Colin Cowherd and he interviewed Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese. I am a huge fan of Colin but Trang made a ton of great points and wiped the floor with Colins ideas about the Big East conference. Much of what Trang said can translate directly to what we want here in the AMC and BG. I know he was the commissioner when those teams bolted but the resurgence of the league seems to be in full swing.
Some highlights from the interview.
1. He said he advises his teams to never just play away games. Once you start doing that you might as well go home he said. Always do a home and home.
2. Colin was talking about the poor schedules and he pointed out that the it takes two to tango and that no one will come there and play them. I understand that there situation is different but I agree with all of these points. Why don't we schedule home and homes with Illinois or Minnesota or A sun belt team. I think we have actually done pretty well with this lately but I would like to see Maybe a WAC v MAC weekend....etc. etc.
Just wanted to see if anyone else heard this today and what your thoughts were.
Also for those who have rivals scouting....do they not have MAC footabll on it....? i was there today and I saw nothing. thats a slap in the face...from what I saw no MAC, WAC or Sun Belt...

I never, ever thought I would read those words. Wow. Radio must suck where you are as bad as it sucks in Cincinnati. I listened for about five minutes this morning before his schtick got old and I popped in a Teenage Fanclub cassette from the 90s.MatelaAntwerp wrote:I was just listening to Colin Cowherd... My guess is a Scottish rock band had as much relevance about sports as Talk Radio Guy.

Are you kidding me. You are the first person who I have ever heard dislike him. He is hilarious and comes up with points everyone else ignores.RobbyFalcon wrote:I never, ever thought I would read those words. Wow. Radio must suck where you are as bad as it sucks in Cincinnati. I know he thinks he's hilarious. What he does is what most talk radio guys do: He creates a strawman and then destroys it.
He actually said the World Series bored him because he didn't know any of the players. He compared it to going to his wife's company party. I guess this was him being "hilarious" so he could get back to talking soap-opera-personality-T.O. crap as quickly as possible. He also calls people "dog" and I don't think he's being ironic.
Regardless, there are a lot of thing the MAC can do to get more respect. The most important is to win. Win OOC and win the bowls games. That's the best way to get more positive publicity and more respect.

Well considering the world series was boring to most sports fans I would tend to say he has his finger on the pulse. Are you a mouth breather?RobbyFalcon wrote:I know he thinks he's hilarious. What he does is what most talk radio guys do: He creates a strawman and then destroys it.

Uhhhh, got me there. Wow, what a riposte. You're right, intelligent people can not disagree. One must be a mouth breather.MatelaAntwerp wrote:Well considering the world series was boring to most sports fans I would tend to say he has his finger on the pulse. It's obvious you would feel right at home at the Algonquin Round Table where your verbal gymnastics and razor wit would be appreciated. I stand down. You win. Colin Cowherd is Atlas of talk radio.

Matela you're the only person who I've EVER heard say they actually enjoy Colin Cowherd. I listen, but I don't know why, exactly.
I really like Mike & Mike, and he follows them, and I'm too lazy to change, so I just leave it on ESPNRadio.
I rarely agree with anything Cowherd says. Like J4H alluded to, I'm surprised he didn't just hang up on the Big East Commish if he was winning the argument, that's what Colin usually does. He's a Jim Rome wannabe.

This is amazing for me to hear. I love him and most people close to me love him. All guys ages 24-28. Dan Patrick and Mike and Mike are just too plane and you know what is coming. I wont stay I cant stand them but I thinkt hey are not in the class of Cowherd. His sense of humor takes awhile to get to know so I would understand that the brief listener would not get attached. Someone who listens alot though Iw ould think would enjoy him. it hink jim Rome is a horrible comparison. Romey never says anything of substance. He just has long breaks in his talking and repeats himself. Colin brings up positions most people wont touch and defends them wisely. IMO.....Everyone is entitled to there opinion...Tricky_Falcon wrote:Not adding much to the conversation but I can't stand Cowherd. Just like most sports radio hosts, his delivery sounds like he is lecturing me and he knows everything about sports. Listened to five minutes of this and had to turn it off. Wish Kornheiser still had his show.
