MNF tonight

Post by marmstr »

Does it pain anyone else to watch Gradkowski on Monday night football? He STILL cannot throw the ball over ten yards, and our quarterback from last year can't get a job in the NFL. It's tough because we all know Omar has the physical tools, but apparently our system (with all the signals from the sidelines) does not set you up to be a very smart NFL player.

I also think you need to give Gradkowski some credit. If he was the talent hack you are speaking of he wouldn't be playing. If losing to him twice wasn't enough you still give him no props

I give him props for beating us twice, being a good quarterback in college, and having the football smarts it takes to play in the NFL. However, anyone watching the game tonight can see that he probably does not have the ARM STRENGTH to be a starter for an extended period of time. I didn't know that was worthy of an eye roll.

He is having a bad game. Did you see the stat that he is the only QB to ever start his career with one interception in 200 passes? Is this better =D>

He's a winner, but he's still a rag-armed midget. He fell into an amazingly fortunate situation to get any PT. Rag-armed midgets don't succeed in the NFL long term, no matter how smart or how good a leader they are. He'll play out this season, and then I doubt he'll ever be a starter again, unless more QB's in front of him rupture organs.

Great college QB, but an incredibly low NFL ceiling.

Falcon fans will never give Bruce his credit. We won't give up on that rag arm thing, apparently ever. You know, since he left Toledo, I have found it easy to root for him.

I think that kind of plays into what I am saying though. His arm strength doesn't allow him to throw all that many deep passes, so that is why that stat is even possible.

I'm rooting for him too. Doesn't make his arm stronger.

Sure he will probably never be a longtime starter, but the guy is good enough to have a decent career as a backup and step in if there is an injury. There is so much more to being a QB in the NFL than just flinging the ball around in a spread offense. His arm may not be all that strong but he has intangibles that Omar Jacobs does not have. Smarts, and the ability to make a play under pressure being two of them.

You want to know why Jacobs probably will never be a NFL qb? Take a look at some games last season. He craps his pants when his protection breaks down. All of his passes were based on timing which also happens to be Bruce's problem right now. Gradkowski in an accurate passer but has not yet adjusted to speed of his receivers.

Jacobs had an incredible season in 2004 but the guys he was throwing to that season deserve just as much credit for it. I doubt there will ever be a group of skill players like that here with Cole, Chuck, Steve, PJ, Hawk, and Mcgrady. The only players we have right now who can hold those first four players jock strap are Barnes and Partridge.

Sure he had an injury in 2005 but he was not as close to being that successful. Things were not same for him after the first half of the Wisconsin game. They put some pressure on him in the second half and he caved. He also showed no ability to escape the pocket all season.

I'm not going to act like I didn't think he was the next best thing after the 2004 season, but I doubted he would ever play in the NFL after I watched him play in 2005.

He was a great college player for us but I think that is going to be it for him. Maybe he can make me be happy to be wrong.

Well, I for one am happy for Bruce. I think the more MAC players that are playing in the NFL only helps the conference. Bruce is in the right place at the right time. He is better than some of the other QBs starting in the NFL and he may mature/grow into a consistent NFL QB. He won't be a Farve or Marino or Montana, but he may have a nice career doing what he loves to do. Wouldn't we all like that.

I am rooting for Bruce as well. He's proven to me he's a winner and I want him to do well in the NFL...I want all MAC players to do well at the next level.

I'm rooting for him to do well.

I hope everyone does well. Hoping for others to fail is karmically evil and ultimately self defeating. We should focus on improving oursleves and staying on the path to self actualiztion. Bogging oursleves down in negativity towards others will eventually bring that negativity onto ourselves.

You're in for a shitload of trouble when that happens...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

You have to remember he is in NO WAY READY to be a starter yet. He is only playing because every QB they had except worthless Rattay went down.
