Move it if you wish. I just wanted to remind people what it is like to be an OSU fan.

In an email sent to the University of Michigan community Monday night, the school’s Dean of Students, alumni director and student body president urged football fans to be safe as they head to Saturday’s Ohio State game.

The email invited students of an official tailgate being put on by the university. The event will be held at the Ohio State University Fawcett Center, near Ohio Stadium, where the game will be played.

The university email urges Michigan students to carpool in cars without Michigan license plates. It also offers these safety suggestions:

--Try carpooling to the game; if possible, drive a car with non- Michigan license plates.
--Keep your Michigan gear to a minimum, or wait until you are inside the stadium to display it.
--Stay with a group.
--Know and obey the laws regarding alcohol use.
--If you are of legal age to drink, use alcohol in moderation. Stay in the blue.
--Stay low-key; don't draw unnecessary attention to yourself.
--If verbally harrassed by opposing fans, don't take the bait.
--Avoid High Street in Columbus.

If at any time you feel unsafe, you should call 9-1-1 for assistance. U-M campus police also will be available in Columbus to support our fans. You may call them with non-emergency concerns at (734) 216-9159.

I personally think it is going a little overboard, but after listening to talk radio the last couple of days, I learned that OSU often sends a few officers with their contingent to away games (usually to protect the team and coaching staff) and that the Michigan cops can't enforce any laws in Ohio. They will be working in tandam with OSU police, State Highway Patrol officers and the Sheriff Deputies working the game. Another advantage is that the Michigan cops will act as parents, so when a Michigan fan gets out of hand, which happens more than you think, the OSU police can turn them over to the Michigan cops.

But the funny thing is, I often hear from fans of not only OSU, but BG, and other schools that the worst place to go for a fan isn't OSU, but Wisconsin. How come they don't receive the coverage on this note that OSU fans do?
