Fire the coach thread....
For all those wishing to get rid of the current coach please utilize this AND ONLY this thread for discussion, proof, reasoning, et al for the SEASON. I believe having one thread with 10 pages will be much better than having a 100 2-3 post threads.
Unlike the football forum, this is a smaller community in hockeyburg and there is no need for 534 "Fire the coach" threads.
Thank you for your consideration and effort in complying with this very simple request.
Thank you,
Middle Management.

Where did all this can the coach talk come from? I just find it funny that before the season most of you were talking about how the team was going to suprise others this year. No that they are on a losing streak, Now fire the coach. I am just happy that most of you are beginning to find out what I have been telling you since I have been on here. Get rid of the coach. Macman, you usually say how this years team is full of heart and such, where is it this game?
Even if you are all mad about what I have just said PLEASE LOOK AT THE LINEUP TOMORROW NIGHT AND SEE THE DIFFERENCES. I gauruntee that the only changes that will be made are to the 4th line, like they were the reason that the loss happened. Maybe try sitting some of the key players, maybe a message will get through. Not like they are doing anything on the PP anyways.

EMBARRASING !!!!!
EMBARRASING !!!!!
15 Ohio State players register points tonight.
Folks, I’ve said this before, something has to change. The new Assistant Coach interviewed on 88.1 FM said “We need to get back to the drawing board” and I agree, but it won’t happen. Tonight’s game will make national news (College News) for Ohio State. BGSU and this hockey program will be disrespected even more than we already are.
Once again we have to hang our heads in shame. Tonight’s effort has to have been the Falcons most inept performance in years. Blame the goalies, blame the defense, and blame the forwards but more than anything blame Scott Paluch. The coaching of this team could better be left to the equipment manager.
After last week’s shutout by Notre Dame, you would have thought that Pooch would have made changes, if nothing else; to shake up what is proving to be an inept team. Alas, he is staying with his “chosen few” who quite frankly just don’t cut it.
Incidentally, is Kevin Schmidt related to Paluch? He is never off the ice, any idea why?

The 4th line will probably change, and the is too bad, because again it was the 3rd and 4th line that where the best! If nothing else it was them who kept the puck in the offensive zone. And, as soon as they got it there they are they are pulled, only for the first two lines to lose it.
Absolutely nothing changed on the powerplay!!! They were lucky to get those goals, and pretty much only got them because it was a 5 on 3. We need to park someone, anyone in front of that net, nobody is ever there. I have nothing more to say in that respect except same ol, same ol!
And, at the same time the defensemen need to move that man from it front of the net, they just let him stand there!!!! Hit somebody for cripes sake!!!!
Instead of Petruska, maybe Palauch should sit out we might have a better chance!!!

It will be very interesting to see what happens tonight. All you guys wanted an example of bad coaching, this is another. After wins, only the 3rd and 4th liners would be worried about whether they were going to sit the next game. Maybe try sitting a 1st or 2nd liner or maybe even as captain becuae the leadership sure didn't sound like it was there last night. Do something to send a message. PLEASE POOCH DO SOMETHING!!!

I'm ready to agree with Bigdog. The display of hockey at BG Ice Arena last night was lethargic, lifeless, and downright embarassing. Our power play is a piece of s**t, we aren't physical on the ice, we don't make good passes in the neutral zone, and for the love of god, we take too freaking long to shoot the puck! I remember one time in the game yesterday, we were on the power play, where we just passed it around to people in the zone for about 30 seconds before somebody shot it. Everybody in the whole fricking arena was shouting for them to shoot.
It was clear from that 3 goal burst in the 1st by OSU that BG just did not come ready to play last night, and that falls on the coaching staff. We were not any good last year, and if we have a second straight last place finish this season, which looks like a possibility, there's NO REASON that Paluch shouldn't be canned. Imagine how mad we would be Gregg Brandon guided us to back-to-back 1-7 MAC seasons. That's whats going on with hockey right now.

I agree Pooch is in trouble but what about are so called star players. Maybe Matsumoto should show up for a game as well. Nobody is playing physical or getting on the puck in the offensive zone. This team is a joke right now. I think tonite is somewhat of a turning point, if we cant salvage a split, this season could get ugly real quick.

bigdog, watch for a big changes tonight.....
Except for replacing one of the defensemen playing at forward with another defenseman, and not dressing a goalie, no change has been made to the lineup. The theory is that you reward poor play with more playing time and then you win.

And we dominated every aspect of the game tonight except the only aspect that counts, the scoreboard.FalconBlue wrote:Except for replacing one of the defensemen playing at forward with another defenseman, and not dressing a goalie, no change has been made to the lineup. A coach can only do so much. He can recruit the talent, he can guide them on where to play and what to look for, but he cannot execute for them. There is definately something off within the program right now. It's so easy to blame the coach but the reality is that this is the second coach in a row that has struggled at BGSU. I'm an engineering student. I've been taught if you make a change and a problem repeats itself, you look for other factors that haven't changed. The coach has been changed. Now, what hasn't changed from when Buddy was the head coach?

pdt1081, your theory may hold in engineering...but
Look at the strides Notre Dame have made (both in their Hockey and Football programs) in the past 2 years. The recruited players were not removed from the team, only the broken parts, which happened to be the Coaches.
Two years later SUCCESS on a National level.
The deposed ND Hockey Head Coach is now an assistant on the same ND team and the difference is they are now winning. What changed, the COACH!
From what I've heard I don't believe Pooch has the "chemistry' or the TRUST of his players. You know the old saying, "My word is my bond" well it does not apply here. He cannot even look his players in the eyes when he talks to them.

I agree pdt1081 that the comments that we hear today from fans, parents, players and alumni are the same as we heard when Buddy was the head coach. Are you saying that besides having a problem at the coaching level, the program may have a problem at a higher level?pdt1081 wrote: A coach can only do so much. If you are # 4 you need some tweeking to become # 1.
If you are # 12 ( again) you need a major housecleaning and renovation.

It might be time for the public of BG to begin to make a fuss and state their complaints so that there voice is known. There is no rule that they can't fire a coach in the middle of the season. With the current stats of the team there is no real reason to keep the coach. Maybe if something happens now we can salvage the rest of the season.
