Great story in his book by Mitch Albom that talks about Woody, BO and Doyt meeting in BG in the middle of a huge snowstorm right after Woody clocked that Clemson player in the bowl game in '79. And how BO and Doyt told Woody he had to resign.

Best moment in Bo history.
"A Michigan man is going to coach Michigan!" And the Wolverines went on to win the NCAA Basketball Championship.

Worst:
Pushing Ernie Harwell off the mic of the Detrot Tigers. Bo was pissed that Ernie went public, but it was a huge mistake by BO and WJR radio.

A legend will be missed.

They actually wrote a pretty nice, sensical note on their message board expressing their condolences and explaining that they used the name since he symbolized Michigan football, not as anything personal.
Today's Dispatch had a nice article on the Dead Schembechlers. They announced prior to their concert last night that they were going to disband or change the name out of respect for Bo. He made some nice comments this past week that really meant a lot o them and showed the respect that both parties had for the rivalry.

The rivalry is what it is because of Bo and Woody. It takes two to tango and this rivalry had these two leading the dance.

I think in the pre-game that OSU will have a nice moment of silence. Once the ball is kicked off, things will return to normal. It will be an emotional game for both teams. I think that both teams are still in shock, especially Michigan because they were preparing to leave as news broke that he died. If this game was being played two or three days from now, it would be one thing to say that Michigan players would be out to win for Bo, but I think it is too close to his death and that it hasn't set in yet. I rememember when my mother died 5 weeks ago that it wasn't until the viewing hours and seeing her in the casket and the nearly 900 people come to pay their respects that I knew that she had died. The players will be the same today. Today will be a piece of cake compared to the next three or four days. The next week will be the challenge for them, as well as the coaching staff, especially Carr. Their is a sense of schock and numbness that they are feeling now, but until they see him lying in a casket, or are at his funeral or a Memorial Service will they really know he is gone. That is a feeling that can't be explained.

Bo didn't fire Harwell, WJR did. Bo pressed hard and got him an extra year on his contract so he could say a proper goodbye.

Bo definitely did not like Harwell after Ernie made him out ot be the bad guy though. Personally, I didn't think Ernie should have been calling the games by the late 80's either, but that's a question of taste, I suppose.

Bo fully supported WJR's decision to let Ernie go.

Maybe...but it was WJR's call and at least Bo got him another year with a reportedly large raise. WJR wanted him gone....period.

Maybe Bo didn't "save" Harwell, but he sure as heck didn't push him off the air, either.

Ernie doesn't go if BO and the Tigers tell WJR no, he didn't, he supported the decision. He was man enough to say so, but the idiot at wjr ran off to Hawaii for a week to hide on vacation and Bo took a little more of the blame than he should have.

This was covered ad nauseum in Detroit....Ken Long at WJR wanted him out. Monaghan and The Tigers may have found it convenient to dump him because of his support for the Cochrane plan to save Tiger Stadium, but WJR initiated Harwell's removal.

To say Bo pushed Harwell off the air when it wasn't his idea and he was the one who got Harwell another year is simply not fair.
