What a coach say to recruit a kid to a program that lost to Temple? Come to BG and you can make it better?? Honestly, what do you say to recruit someone to a losing program other than we can give you a free education. The worse we look the more difficult it is to recruit I'd imagine. Ask why would a top 5, 4 or 3 star prospect want to come to BG?

I used to think that way too, the good schools would stay good, keep getting the best recruits, the schools that are down stay down.

But with one look around our conference this year and last, there had to be a lot of guys go to places like Western Michigan and Kent and OU and make a difference.

What did Kelly say to kids to get them to go to CMU? What did Solich say to kids to get them to OU?

You don't sell the now in college football as much as you sell the future (particulalry if the now is bad) and the past. You sell the school, the tradition, the facilities and the system you're running. Does it really matter if we're 8-4 or 4-8 this year? Not if you point out the ESPN games, the recent bowl wins, the SEBO Center, the great academic programs. the upcoming home games against big time schools like Boise State and Minnesota. We're a school with a lot of positives in a conference with a nationwide rep for playing exciting football.

Temple..sure they beat us this year, but we've crushed them the last two times before that and we'll crush them again if you committ to us.

That's what you tell a kid.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Looks like on the scrolling banner on this kid's website, he has chosen Vanderbilt.
I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.

Yeah this is a thread from about a year ago. The Upson kid is currently on Vandy's squad.
