Thanks for all the great comments. It was awesome to see Corey come out and have that type of game, on ESPN2 and against Toledo. Corey wanted that win really bad.

I would have to agree that some of the players seemed less than motivated last night, but there were others out there giving there all. We played poor in the first half but had a great second. The second half was a real good football game to watch.

BG has alot of work to do in the off season. I am very happy that Corey is injury free to end a successful sophomore season. He can look forward to working hard and preparing for next season instead of getting busy with 3 months of rehab. I also saw some signs of Corey maturing into a team leader, he kept trying to motivate others and get the crowd involved. Maybe he is looking to step up and help lead this team next year by more than his example.

The 14 catches tied Redd's record. The 14 catches is a career high in receptions for Corey. The 161 yards receiving are a college career high in yardage. Great game Corey and I am proud of you. Keep up the good work.

Oh, as for his forty times. I remember during summer camp he rad 4.33 and a 4.38 if I remember correctly.

One thing that Corey has mentioned is that they run so much as a wide receiver during the game, that they usually don't have their best speed during the game or when they catch the ball. Because they are always somewhat winded and fatigued. It really is hard work to be a WR in this system.

I'd like to congradulate Corey on his great game, and for having a tractor beam on his hands to suck in some terribly thrown balls and make those grabs look easy. You've got a helluva athlete and kid there Spart, and I was damn proud of him last night and gave me one of the few bright things to talk about to my dad this morning.

I have to echo the sentiments (if I haven't already). What a great game by Corey. Making tough grabs, taking hits and popping back up, all that. I don't think the TD grab he had got the credit it deserved, either. Outstanding instincts to find the corner and keep the toes down without taking his eyes off the QB or the ball!

And a very good point about using the offseason to improve instead of rehab, dad! :-D

Congratulations to corey for keeping us in the ball game. It it not for him it would truly have been a blow out!!! My beloved BG football team has sunk into a dismal and embarrassing hole. Coach Brandon and his staff should be looking for jobs!!! When you lose to a team like Temple with the longest losing streak in the nation whic at the time I believe was 20 games, that in inexcusable. Then to lose to Toledo, a team whose name I hate to write for the third season in a row, well, it's time to go. Greg would be a great high school coach, but not a great College coach which he has proven in my book.

Yes, I apologize my statement was a touch hyperbolic. Certainly Corey wasn't the only player out there giving his all, but the team as a whole was really not ready to play yesterday, and Corey was the most glaring exception to that.

One thing I would like Corey to really do (and he seems like the type) is really develop into a leader. He is the only standout on this WR corps and guys like Zach Charles & Tyrone Pronty could really use an older leader to help guide them. I know Corey is only going to be a RS Jr, but he's the closest thing that group will have to a true leader.

Last night he showed that he could continually get open even though everyone in the stadium knew the ball was coming his way. It takes more than athleticism to do that, you must run perfect routes and know the system as well. Those are things that Corey can help his fellow WRs out with throughout the offseason.

That was a great game for Corey last night, and I hope it catapults him into a leadership role on this team...it sorely needs some leaders. Like you said, it will also be great for him to spend the offseason improving rather than rehabbing. Gotta say that if those 40 times are accurate, combined with his ability to use his hands, he definitely has a future in football beyond BG, if he desires.

Good luck to him, and the rest of the team as they embark on what will no doubt be a temultuous offseason.

Spart - Corey conducted himself very well in the post-game press conference despite being dejected about the loss. You raised him right and he's a very nice young man.

I was at the NIU game in 2002 when Robert Redd had 14 catches. Very similar games played by Redd and Corey from last night. On almost every pass play, everyone in the stadium knew who the ball was going and the only thing that could stop it was a horribly inaccurate pass. Much like Redd at NIU, Corey took some ridiculous shots last night, but he didn't drop the ball and popped right up. If it were not for CP, I would hate to even guess what the final score would have been.

I really think Corey can be a solid captain next year. We really need some leaders to step up. We haven't had good leaders on the field since Harris, Magner, Burkes, and Hewitt were in town.

If those times are even close to being accurate whoever is calling him a "possesion receiver" and is looking for a deep threat to complement him, is off the mark. Those times would be among the two or three fastest on almost any team. With his hands and that speed he could be a real downfield threat if someone can get him the ball.

You are correct, he is about the 2nd or 3rd fastest on the team. Macon was the fastest but suffered the ankle injury which slowed him down. I don't know the other that was right with Corey. The statement about not being fresh during the games is a true one, they run around so much that he is never fresh to quite get that kind of speed during the games. But this could be true of the guys covering him also. He looked pretty fresh on all his catches tuesday.

those times are definately not correct. There isnt a single person on the team including dan macon that runs a 4.4 let alone a 4.3. Cory is definately by far the best athlete and player on the team and if he can stay healthy should take a run at sharon/magner/redd's records. However on a good day he would be lucky to run low 4.5's. Just keeping everything in perspective for all of you before you freak out about something that isnt true.
