I believe the Northwestern game was the end of Josh's sophomore year. He was cranking pretty good by then--and the UT game that followed.

Right you are, Spart. Problem is, we had seen numerous flashes from J5 and consistent improvement. I haven't seen much of either from AT unforunately. I was among his biggest defenders before this season. Then came the weed deal, and the injury, so we still may not have seen what he can do. I just have serious doubts at this point. I hope he can improve a ton in the offseason, but I've lost a lot of faith since August.

He has been showing improvement in each of the last three games. His second half last night was pretty good. If you look at QB ratings in the MAC, he is in the middle. He has alot of hard work ahead of him to prepare for next year. I hope he gets a good push in camp from the other QBs on the roster. A QB competition is always good to bring out the best.

A couple of his TD throws last night, one to Corey and one to Brantley, he scrambled away from pressure and made the play (good throws on the run). Sheehan would not have made those plays.
I agree with most of the posts in this thread. I am not sold entirely on AT but He has shown enough flashes that he is worth playing still. i think that he made strides recently and is now a middle of the rode MAC QB. The kind you can win with not because of. What I noticed last game was that AT looked best when we opened up the offense. He looked pretty good rolling and passing which is what he should do.

2 thoughts.
1. He did look good in the second half, is that on him or Toledo's D....I don't know.
2. His running ability. Werent people jazzed about his running ability during spring games when Omar was our starter? Could the injury and the weight of carrying the team be causing him to think more than react? Or could he be just bad and comparing his running to Omar and the fact that in Spring ball he gets to run against our D

i honestly think brandon screwed the pooch when he changed the offense back to the option style. in the spring game 2 years ago turner was throwin it around just as good as omar and thats why i was excited about him. he didnt run very much in that spring game. and i honestly think he showed that he can run that omar offense in the second half. he just needs to improve his accuracy other wise we would of had a touchdown to brantley again in the 3rd quarter on that post but he threw it over his head.

but turner is lacking leadership (choosing toking up over the welfare of the team says volumes) and is a lesser talent than omar jacobs.

hopefully turner steps up and shows why he was so highly touted coming in. he has an offseason to get his act together, and i really hope he does.
I agree with all of this. I also don't think it helped that it seemed like every play for a while the coaches were switching QBs. I think Turner has A LOT to do to be a good QB. He's subpar now. I can count on my hands how many times I actually saw him throw a good long pass. I don't think he has that skill yet unfortunately. But hopefull he'll step it up in the off season and leave the drugs alone!
