I don't hate BG. I am getting sick of hearing excuses from BG and their coaches as to why they lost in DeKalb and now, despite the result on the field, you're rationalizing how you're better than us. I guess if it floats your boat.
For the record, I'll be pissed if you guys get a bowl game this year, but not because I don't like BG or don't want to see another MAC team rewarded - it'd be because we would have apparently done the heavy lifting last year (meaning,we were too damn good to be left out, yet were) and not directly seen the benefits of it (though our current ranking is a bit of of a benefit of that - but I'd take a bowl game any day). It'd be more pissed at the system for leaving us out last year and for the correction happening a year late.
No...From reading a few boards, I'd say hatred. Just too many comments added to a BG/UT post flame on macbbs, or coming on here critiquing a BG fan discussing his team. And for the record, BG is probably not going to a bowl; yet, times are changing. A new bowl could be created. Don't let the hatred control you.

Actually my HuskieFriend, it would be two years too late for this fan. I remember a 9-3 Falcon Football team that sat home duirng the 2002 bowl season with wins over two BCS conference foes.
So while I agree that NIU got screwed last year in the bowl selection process, I'm not going to feel sorry for your team that they did not go bowling last year.
Yes, I hope BGSU gets a bowl game this year.
No, I do not expect it to happen.
But if the MAC has a chance at three bowl games this year, and if BG wins out, I would hope that our team is afforded the opportunity to play in a bowl game. Just like I was hoping that some how, some way, NIU would have the opportunity to play in a bowl game last year.

1. Last year was a MUCH more competitive year as far as teams go, i.e. there were a lot of winning teams who were bowl eligible and THAT is why NIU was left out!
2. This year is autroicious for college football as there aren't nearly as many dominant teams as there were last year. That being said, BG will get a bowl game since C-USA has 5 bowl tie ins and those teams MUST have at least 6 wins to be eligible, let alone be chosen. As it stands now, there are only 6 teams who are at or above .500 and those teams play a lot of each other in the remaining games so there will probably be 3-4 teams who are bowl eligible which will make 1-2 bowls be at large bids for other teams.
3. Us sitting at 9-2 with our only losses AT Oklahoma (2nd in polls) and AT NIU (24th in polls) will make us a very good choice for an at large bid.
4. The only way I think we don't get a bid is if we lose one of our last 3 games (which I doubt).
5. Lastly, if we win out we will ABSOLUTELY be ranked top 25, we are 29th right now in the ESPN poll and we've moved up about 4 spots each week. I predict we finish the year ranked around 22-23rd and if we win our bowl game against a worthy opponent and finish 10-2 then we'd be ranked somewhere around 20th. This would be KEY for us for next year and the preseason rankings. With so many returning sophs and juniors, our team next year will most likely win the MAC and have Omar as a serious Heisman Candidate. And if we are ranked in the top 25 in preseason and we keep winning, we'll do a Utah because thats what it takes. We do play AT Boise State next year and I am not sure who else our OOC games are.

Dan, what do you expect to read on BG boards? I'm sure it all pretty similar to what was on the NIU boards last year. If you want to read nothing but praise for the Huskies you won't find it here. You beat us fair and square and I will not comment on what I would think would happen if we played again because there's no point. So if you don't like reading what we got to say, save yourself the time and don't read it!
Get over feeling sorry for yourself, because we have no pitty. In 2001, we were 8-3 with wins over Missouri, Northwestern, and a romping over UT, a team that went on to win the MAC. In 2002, we were 9 -3 with an 8-0 start. We didn't get bowls those years, so we played better and earned one in 2003, knowing that only the top 2 MAC teams would get a bowl. By the same token, you knew last year that with a loss to BG you would probably not get a bowl. That was no surprise. We knew that a loss to you could cost us a bowl this year, but we are not wishing ill will on NIU because of our short comings.
The bottom line is that the MAC needs more than 2 automatic bowls. Our teams are better than in the past and it will be good for the MAC to see more than 2 teams compete in Bowl games this year. If we can all fare well in a bowl game, it will only lead to a better future. Don't forget that it is financially better for our league to have bowl games. All teams in the league get $$ from the bowls, not just the team playing.
In the end, keep your venom to yourself, win out, earn your bowl game, and don't let the outcome of the other teams in this league take away from your own accomplishments.
