Na. I live in Cleveland. I try to get to a few out of town MAC games throughout the year. Once, Kent Fizzled out, I didn't care much. I am in town for the week visiting my brother who lives in Toledo.
You can't compare yourselves to Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a show band based on energy, cool marching, and entertainment (not tone control). BG focuses on a good clean sound. Both styles are fine, but you can't say one band was better than another. Obviously, BG band thinks they were better and Wisconsin band thought they were better. Both are entitled to their opinions but at least BG isn't on probation.
BG, UT, and Wisconsin are all better than the piece of crap Kent and Akron bands I have to deal with on an almost weekly basis.

Hi, there were some FMB pics from the UT game posted over at the football forum that some of you might not have seen. Check these out:

In the stands yes. But during halftime, they were very hard to hear. The FMB was easy to hear when my group and I sat in our original seats (that they ripped us off on...they were NOT sold out of general admission tickets...stupid money-hungry Rockets) which were almost directly across from the FMB. They sounded great and I enjoyed cheering along loudly while in the heart of Rocket territory. Once we moved seats to join the see of orange (we snuck right in the back of the section, which worked nicely so that we could stand for the whole game), we could barely hear the band. Being a former bandie, I could tell what the FMB was playing and would cheer along, but the common fan might not have been as observant. During halftime, though the FMB had a great sound and was much louder and clearer than the RSB (Rocket Scurrying Band). Ya'll sounded and looked good...and I think the crowd response was much better for the FMB than the other band.Falcon30 wrote: At least UT's band was loud![]()
The RSB also played when we had the ball while it is normally customary for bands to only play when their team is on offense. This frustrated me when Dr. Hayward goes to such lengths to make sure we are a class act. But which band could you hear on the ESPN coverage? That would be the FMB!!!

Not trying to be mean here, but if you couldn't hear the Toledo band during halftime (unless you were on the away side) you must be deaf. I stood on the sideline watching them from the home side, and almost lost my hearing. They played everything as loud as they possibly could and had no soft, or even medium, dynamics. I have no doubt that they were louder than us, but they were lacking in so many other aspects that being louder really did not matter.

Lozer- That's what my sister said. She said the whole band was loud and blatty with no musical sense whatsoever. It just seemed to me that from behind the RMB, you could not hear them. My youngest sister (a potential FMB member next year) also said they sounded quieter. I have no doubt that they were playing loud, but do to the acoustics or their terrible playing, their sound was much quieter (and sounded much worse) than the FMB's. In addition, I enjoyed the many looks of what the heck when they announced their show because you could not understand what he said and could not really recognize what they were playing for the first pieces (but everyone knew 1812).

Well maybe if you had tried to take the time to decipher what their crappy jumbo-tron had on, you would've known the songs they were playing...Falconfliccbone wrote:In addition, I enjoyed the many looks of what the heck when they announced their show because you could not understand what he said and could not really recognize what they were playing for the first pieces (but everyone knew 1812).
