there were predictions that we'd go 1-10 also by journalists. the point is when you have a young team like we did you never know what you're gonna get. and sometimes this team was dominating like at ohio and others looked horrible. thats what a young team is, between next year and the year after i think we well be scary good.

That quote should be changed to:

"...and one time this team was dominating at Ohio"

Because that was the ONLY time all season that we dominated. Do you realize we had to go to triple OT to beat a one win Buffalo? We had to hold on at the very end to beat a winless FIU team. We had to scrap till the end to beat a one win EMU team.

We also lost to a 1 win Temple team and a 2 win Miami(OH) team.

So basically, this team was slightly better than the bottom 10 of D1A for 3 games and slightly worse than the bottom 10 of D1A for 2 games. This team sucked toiletwater for the better part of the year and anyone who tries to sugarcoat that has absolutely no credibility in my eyes from here on out.

Let's leave the excuse making to our esteemed head coach, he's better at it than any of us anyways.

Seriously. This team was so poor that the one game we did dominate, we won by 12.

12.

12.

Perfect play means we win by 12. I have very little hope that we'll be much better next year. I sure hope some kind of light flicks on and the staff magically learns how to actually prepare a team soon, but I'm not counting on it.

The worst part about this season, is that it wasn't a surprise. Most expectations have now been lowered so that this is acceptable. That's pathetic.

Agree with alot of what was said here. I also have low expectations for next year. Where did this team improve and grow over the year? STs? No we got a kick blocked in week 11. Second half adjustments.....No...they were never made. Did we find our Qb...no AT did not run away with it adn Sheehan was not given the chance. Did the D improve? Nope still cant tackle. Did the play calling improve? Freddie barnes for a nice quick Wr pass on third down....hey Stud what should we call on 4th? How about the same play. We need to give them enough opportunities to see it so they can stop it. And the coach will return. There is nothing that leads me to beleive that this team will be better next year then the logical progression of a young team improving with experience and coaching. That is an assumption not a fact.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of recruiting news. Scout shows Toledo with just 3 commits and Rivals shows Toledo with just 2 commits, yet we actually have 6 commits right now. That's just the way it is with smaller schools. The recruiting services don't spend much time on the guys you are recruiting. Usually the commits they list early on for schools like us is because they were tracking that kid for a bigger school and found out he committed to us instead.

Rocket - The fact that you know that you have six commits means a lot. We've only seen traces of one commit, and I'm assuming that's including a ton of research from quite a few people. I know I've googled stories, checked sites, and tried to read up on some of the people that might be interested...but all in all, nothing. So actually, I am a little concerned as I'm sure a lot of people are. BG may only have 12-15 scholarships to give, but when only one is accounted for publicly, not a good feeling.

I might know of six UT commits, but the public and most every Rocket fan doesn't. A perfect example is that a running back from Steubenville was just listed on Rivals today that he had an offer from UT. About an hour later an article was up saying he committed to Toledo. They quoted him saying he committed back in July or August, but he is just now telling the public. Coincidentily he is a soft verbal and still exploring his options and waiting for other offers. Right now his only offers are Toledo and Bowling Green, with of course the committment to Toledo with the idea that he is still exploring all options.

The idea of a soft commit kind of cracks me up though. Whether these kids say it or not, 95% of them are still exploring all of their options until they sign on the dotted line in February.

As well they should....it's not like coaches don't string kids along sometimes too.

ok, so this kid has an offer from Iowa to play DB, though he prefers to play WR. Yes, he's listed at 5'8, 165 lb (which is usually generous), doesn't sound like BG will give him an answer whether he can play on offense full time. Though it does sound like he may be given a chance to see if his small target can get off the line well enough.
Rucker says he'll be visiting Purdue in January, but hasn't set the exact date yet. Central Michigan is the only school recruiting Rucker for wide receiver. Bowling Green said he'd be able to go both ways.

Given our horrid WR corps it would make sense to me that he would get first shot at that position. I'd promise him the world...we badly need some speed at the position.

WR does seem like a more pressing need than DB. I'd like to see us get a JC WR or two...I normally don't like going the JUCO route, but we need some experienced guys to work with Partridge and Barnes.

Let's get a JUCO DT while we're at it...
