As I watch the big game of the night I cant help but think that Ron Lewis probaly made one of the 10 best transfers in the last 10 years. I mean look where he is at now (with great luck from the coaching move, oden, and whatnot) He will now be able to put this team on his basketball resume and while he still probaly won't make the NBA that kid will play basketball for a living the rest of his life. With all the grief he's taken on these boards I just wanted to give him some credit for making a tough decision that has paid off with great rewards.

agreed, i never thought it would end this well for him, but he's really become a key aspect of a major team, rather than a sorta ball-hoggish guy on a mid-major that has declined.

It's amazing what can happen with a coach and a system the knows how to pull the best out in a player. Maybe someday BG can enjoy that same kind of success.

No doubt at all. We wouldn't have him anymore anyway so it doesn't really affect us anymore.

To me, he is a tremendous college player. He never stops taking it to the basket and he is strong enough to finish. He gets a ridiculous number of and-1's. However, I just don't see him being able to do that in the NBA. He does look like his shot has improved quite a bit, but I just don't see him as a long-term NBA player. He definitely made the right decision, though. He would be averaging 20-25 per game this year at BG, but nobody would be paying attention. He will average 17 or 18 this year at OSU and he will have his chance to make an NBA roster in addition to having a realistic Final 4 shot.

Also, it was great to see Lewis' brother throughout the game tonight as they focused on Greg Oden every 30 seconds.

I always liked Lewis. And yeah, what a great move for him. I don't think he'll be in the NBA, but he had a hell of a game last night.

And watching the game last night, and reading the articles before and after the game, I'm tired off all this Greg Oden BS. I realize he's the best center ever (dickie V) but he's not freaking playing! When he starts playing, then fine, talk about him. But he hasn't played one NCAA game yet. There's no sense in talking about how a guy will impact a team once he's healthy when no one knows how he'll play at the college level.

Yes, i was one of a handful of people that dubbed Ron the the 2 hr. delay guy at BG for his ability to disappear at times. However, after seeing the player he has become and the team he is on, I'll be shocked if Ron does not get a look somewhere in someone's camp next season. The Cavs could use a combo guard like Ron and everyone knows he has the requisite defense down to a tee

Maybe he can join Michael Redd as the only two Buckeyes in the NBA in the last 10 years. Glad he went to "big" Ohio State to get to the NBA. Keith and Antonio will welcome him with open arms.

A year off and a change of scenery seems to have helped hiis game. I don't know if he's capable of getting NBA minutes, but if he can continue tio improve his shooting (you HAVE to be able to shoot from the perimeter to get a look these days) he has a shot at having a nice career

The change of system probably helped too. Not to start another Fire Dakich thread or take the negative tone... but.......

How does this look when you have a guy that was pretty good at BG taking his game to OSU and becoming a bonafide star of the team? To the lay recruit I'm thinking it looks like this- the system at BG (or exposure of the MAC) was keeping a guy down. All they will see is that he was at BG with good numbers and some accolades and now by simply leaving and getting to OSU he is getting mentions from Andy Katz and Dickie V.

It is kind of the reverse trend thing we have seen with MAC football players. Guys come to the MAC to play football right away instead of sitting behind guys for a couple seasons and they get NFL looks.

I don't know if that made any sense to anyone else. . .

BG didn't keep Keith Mcleoud or Antonio Daniels "down" did we? They got to the NBA with no problem.
