Fire the coach thread....
Sometimes these things cannot be filtered out without some type of extreme change. I'm saying I want a coaching change made, maybe a player change though.
Only irrational people work with extremes. And extremes are what almost everyone on this board is throwing out there, be it left extreme (fire pooch) or right extreme (there's nothing wrong). I would really like to see someone with a non-partisan view of both sides of this situation give us some inside input as to what the locker room and practices and games are like.
Input from the former players is certainly an invaluable rescource on this board, but that input comes from extreme viewpoints and all point to and lean on conclusions that a just not realistic or rational at this point. We all know the team is less than stupendous right now. The question remains what precisely are the factors that give us this product? We have lots of opinions, and lots of facts, and lots of first-hand accounts (all of which seem to be skewed in some way by personal opinion) but no real solid ground to stand on other than what the team looks like every weekend. And what they look like is bad.

Yeah right girl!
Oorah!
Oorah!
Let's not forget that if a player has been drafted, they can leave at anytime. Hopefully we don't see this, but as more losses happen it is possible.

For God's Sake,
"What else is he supposed to do" How about a little creativity. As long as he has been involved in hockey, he should not need ideas. He needs to learn how to apply the ideas to make the team better. Drills do not make a team better unless there is a purpose for the drill and the players understand that purpose.
Don't be blind: Most athletes admire their coaches and will run through a glass wall to impress them. Coach P lacks a personality, and I doubt very much if he ever even talks to his players outside the locker room.

Paluch
I played for Paluch for 4 years and he never asked me how i was doing or how my family was. I do not even think that he new my parents name. The man new nothing about me and never cared to know what was going on in my life. That is how it is for most of his players so i never took it personal. It just made me realize the kind of person he was. He can have all the talent in the world but he will always loose. his players will always hate him. Paluchs players have no respect for him. A lot of athletes hate their coaches but they still have respect for them. That is the problem at BG, nobody respects him and just about everyone hates him.
I had a great experience in college at BG. I had the best teamattes and the best fans in the world. I absolutely loved the school and the town. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The only bad thing about BG was Scott Paluch, he ruined the game of hockey for me and so many others. he does not deserve the honor of being a coach at BG. Their is too much tradition there to have him come along and ruin everything. I feel bad for every guy on that team because they will have to go threw what i did and that is a sad thing. I wish the athletic department would wake up and get rid of him and bring someone in who will care about his players.

I'm just getting around to reading it.
I'm in between the two camps. I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. Do I believe the previous players have a beef? Yes. Do I believe Paluch is a good coach and the right man for the job? Yes. Do I believe the coach needs a thicker skin? Perhaps. Do I think there is a culture of a "whatever" attitude within the program which has made the transition of coaches difficult. Yup.
80% of reality is perception. I'm trying to sort it all out.
We all want the same thing. The "how to obtain the goal" is the only disagreement in my mind.

I am slightly toward the Players side on this issue. Do I believe the previous players have beef? Most definitely. Do I believe the current players have beef? Probably. Do I believe Paluch is a good coach and the right man for the job? Right now it is clear that he is not, but that doesn't mean he can't adapt and change. I think it is clear that either he needs to change or he needs to change how or who he recruits to avoid these situations. The players might need to toughen up, but there needs to be some give from Paluch's side as well.

Re: Paluch
This is quite disturbing to say the least. If its' true all the players do not like playing for Pooch then there needs to be a coaching change made no later than the end of this year!!freddiethefalconBG wrote:I played for Paluch for 4 years and he never asked me how i was doing or how my family was. Yeah, if we get swept by Nebraska and then Alaska, get Paluch out of here before Christmas. I'm not buying this whole "is Paluch the right man for the job" bickering. With all due respect RUIT, its very, VERY clear that Paluch and his players have an obvious disconnect. They've been tanking every night since the Notre Dame series. I'm not even sure we are gonna win another game this season the way things are going, its that bad. The fact that we still cannot run a flipping power play at all, or play pressure on defense and in the neutral zone is rediculous. And like the former players have said, its not like we are losing by one or two, we're getting killed every night. Enough is enough, I hope we can Paluch as soon as possible, before more damage is done.Goldwing wrote:Christmas Break would be an excellent time for him to resign and let the assistants take over. Take some time and get a quality coach. The assistants can and should continue to recruit. The new coach will be in early enough to sign recruits.

I appreciate your point of view. I will await the end of the season before coming to a final decision whether or not BG is a proper fit for Scott.bgsufalcon24 wrote:I'm not buying this whole "is Paluch the right man for the job" bickering.
