Yeah I think thats what he meant... CMU has a great football team this year and good really represent the MAC well, but no they have to play a shat school like MTSU instead of a BCS conference school!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

What the hell happened? I have a hard time believing that the Big Can't Count and the Big East didn't have enough bowl eligible teams to fill this slot? I am far too lazy to look up records because, frankly, I could really give a crap about either of these conferences, but I would like to know what is going on - if anyone cares. CMU deserves a better opponent than MTSU, and I mean no offense whatsoever to MTSU. They are a good program, but I have a feeling they are no match for CMU right now.

As far as the B11 goes, losing 2 teams to the BCS knocks everyone else up a notch. I'm not sure what's up with the Big East, but I think that's why the B11 doesn't have a team to send.

FWIW the Big 10 has 7 out of 11 teams bowl eligible, while the Big East has 6 out of 8. I believe the year BG played Northwestern, NW was the 8th team to go from the Big 10. Also I believe that is the only time a MAC team has played a Big 10 team in that bowl! The mix up in the Big 10 this year came with Iowa going 2-6 in the conference, but still being bowl eligible at 6-6, while Indiana went 3-5 in the conference and finished at 5-7 overall including a loss to a SOUTHERN ILLINOIS!Bleeding Orange wrote:What the hell happened? With the Big 10 unable to fill the slot because they don't have enough bowl-eligible teams their spot in the Motor City Bowl becomes an at-large spot. Any at-large spot must be filled by any available teams with a winning record before a team with a 6-6 record can be chosen. The only 2 teams above .500 not tied into conference bids were Northern Illinois and Middle Tennessee St. 6-6 teams not going bowling that might have been better draws were Pittsburgh, Kansas, Washington St., and Arizona.

Well, I'm still surprised that the Big East couldn't fill the slot. Even so, I would still like to have seen Arizona in there. As a "semi-alum" of the UofA, I probably would have gone up to that game!doughash wrote:With the Big 10 unable to fill the slot because they don't have enough bowl-eligible teams their spot in the Motor City Bowl becomes an at-large spot. MTSU....I'm sure they're a better team than we are this year and I don't mean to criticize them, but the MAC champs should get a shot at a BCS conference team.
I don't mean to infer that bigger is automatically better...that would make me a douche like Trev Albert, Mark May, TG1996 and Ramses...no I want the Chips to play a BCS school because it would give the MAC another chance to prove that the "BCS" name means nothing on the field unless you are really good like Michigan, Ohio State and Florida...

Hell yeah! What Flipper said! WOO!
(Oh, um, wait a minute.... not that part.)

How about Western Mi and bearcats...that will be a good game.
as will the OU southern Mis game
I think that with the excessive number of Bowl Games. The games pairings are what they should be. BCS schools playing each other and D1 playing. i only wish that the "big Bowls" were played first as the cooling off period between now and then is realy not conducive to "best" game. but the BCS is a system...a tried and truely failed one, so the perpetuation of fraudulent champions continues. I hope Fl can rock OSU worlds and that MI rolls USC.
