Once you lose a team you never regain it. For whatever reason his team has lost faith in him, and they no longer want to play for him. That's not good.
Yep, it is true without a doubt, Ellis will not return to BGSU after the winter break. Its unfortunate for this young man to be on ESPN highlights falling on his duff in a hopeless situation. I fault the coaches, they didn't try to put the ball in an area on the field with any footing. Again this is an example of why the players are quiting, from what I'm told Ellis is only one of several scholarship players to quit. When Urban was here players quit because of his demanding pursuit of excellence, players are leaving now because of overwhelming pursuit of incompetence displayed by Brandon and staff. I hope that 2007 will not be a repeat of 2006, please not worse. We had the #1 recruiting class in the MAC, so what happened to all these recruits? It will be difficult to attract quality players with our current direction. Urban is playing several true freshman and I have yet to hear him use the "we're young" excuse, he knows how to recruit quality athletes and prepare his young athletes. Brandon doesn't and maybe thats why he was an assistant under Urban.

The off season is not starting well. At some point, you hope they find a bottom and push off.

We have somne nasty games on the home slate in the next two years. If we thought the Kent game was bad, I don't want to consider what Boise State will do to us on our field if we don't get a handle on this.

And you're positive that Turner ran the exact play as called before the field goal attempt? I am certainly not given his track record. Are you certain that Miami's defense did not make a great play to keep us from getting to that side of the field? Did Ellis take any practice kicks at full speed on the field to see if he would slip or fall? Did Ellis shorten his delivery so he would not slip?

I am sorry, but the player's have to take some responsibility here.

I believe I heard Coach Brandon on the radio say that AT ran the play exactly as called.

Yes...AT was advised to try and run it in if possible...if it wasnt there he was to try and make the throw but not force anything so that we could have a chance to kick and win the game. AT did what he was told and we didnt execute...simple as that....

You can't fault the coaches much for going for a TD in those conditions, but would it have been that hard to run a rollout towards the better half of the field and tell AT just tuck it and run if nobody's open? That way, you're in a better position if the play doesn't work. These are things that even mediocre HS coaches think about in those situations.

As long as he was sure he could get OB on that side of the field. It was 4th down and there was :30 left. *Probably* enough time to get everyone out there, set, and snap the ball, but you never know in those conditions... too many variables.

That and I'm not entirely sold that the footing was more than marginally better on the left hash than from where we kicked. I remember thinking as I watched things set up about right/left hashmarks, and thought it was going to be a shady proposition regardless, footing-wise.

The left hash looked cleaner...that's where Ellis wanted to kick from. Turner rolled left and threw it away. Why he didn't just roll left and either tuck it and go down (we probably could have got the FG unit on since the left hash is in front of our bench) or run out of bounds. I have no problem with giving six a look, but you have to leave yourself in a position to make the three if the TD isn't there.

Next to forcing an int, throwing it away to keep the ball inthe center of the field was the worst thing he could have done. That patch looked like a lake. We had guys finding it difficult to run straight ahead from that spot, what makes them think a kicker would be able to plant and kick?

Our clock and field management were atrocious on that drive.

Does anyone have a reason why he quit or left? The mud kick can't be a major reason why he quit. I'm sure there are other issues, more than likely has to do with distance from home. There wasn't a better chance to play all 4 years than at BG and now he must go to a I-AA school and get the chance to be their kicker or hope that he can beat out someone at another school. I'm guessing he goes somewhere in the SE.

If Sean or his family want it to be known, I'm sure they'll make it known. Otherwise, you'll have to draw your own conclusions.

I wish the kid well. But i wont miss him next year, he was not very good at all. I know his dad is a big suporter and I mean no disrespect when I say that, its just how I saw it.
He may well do well and improve in another system.

Football is a tough game, and varying natural conditions some times put players in a position that is less than ideal. But to remove a wonderfull natural grass field that varies based upon the conditions is and would be just plain wrong.
I dont blame the kicked for missing in the mud hole, I would have been totaly amazed in fact if he had made it. that was the best game we played all season. Why because you just did not know what to expect going in to it from either team, and well it was awesome.
Best of luck Ellis.

Would that system entail a standard punt formation, containing kickoff coverage, and fundamental blocking schemes?

Then I agree, he would do well in that environment.

I'm surprised both of Rojas' legs are still attached to his body.
