That's not even a real step-up... I guess conference wise it is, but that's about it. Oh well, maybe it will help BG in the long run!

Bigger budget, bigger paycheck, bigger conference...maybe a better fit than ISU. I think he gets stamped as a second shelf hire given he was a finalist for the job the guy he's suceeding took.

UC in CUSA was a lateral move... UC in the Big East... huge step up... and their facilities are pretty damn nice comapred to almost everyone in the MAC... so don't be casting stones when you wish you complain about other schools and how much better their sh!t is then your own, and then you ridicule a coach for going there.

According to USA today, the last coach @ UC made $495K without bonuses, while @ CMU it was $183K. Not a lateral move.

Not a lateral move by money but if he would have stayed at CMU for a couple more years and had the same success he could have gotten a better job

I never root for Cincinnati. If they go 1-11 next season, I'll be angry about the win.

Never in the history of college football has a program moved so far based on so little merit.

Cincinnati is also the alma mater of one Urban Meyer.

I hope CMU's recruiting will take a hit from this just as BG's did in 2002-2003.

One hot rumor was that Miami's Ryne Robinson was all but committed to BG before Meyer and receivers coach Billy Gonzales bolted to Utah.

UC football is on the rise I would say. They went 7-5 with a brutal schedule.
They played 5 top 25 teams. 4 on the road (OSU, VT, Louisville, WV) and only 1 at home vs Rutgers which they won convincingly.

Great facilities, More Money, Skyline Chili. You can't blame him for making the move.

CINCINNATI -- For a second time this season, Brian Kelly will oppose Western Michigan in a football game.

One day after being named Cincinnati's new football coach, Kelly on Tuesday learned his first game with the Bearcats will come at the International Bowl next month.

Kelly guided Central Michigan to a 9-4 record and Mid-American Conference championship this season. The Chippewas, who will face Middle Tennessee in the Motor City Bowl on Dec. 26, beat Western Michigan -- Cincinnati's bowl opponent Jan. 6 -- 31-7 on Nov. 10.

"Our goal was to put the best opportunity for success on the sidelines for our student-athletes," Bearcats athletic director Mike Thomas said. "Coach Kelly and his staff have a wealth of knowledge regarding our opponent in the International Bowl and are ready to lead our team against Western Michigan. I am excited that we have Cincinnati coaches leading our Bearcats on the field as that is how it should be."

It is not the first time that a new coach has taken over a team after the regular season and led that squad in a bowl. David Cutcliffe did so for Mississippi after the 1998 campaign, guiding the Rebels to an Independence Bowl win over Texas Tech.

In 16 seasons as a coach, Kelly has compiled a 137-51-2 record. He is replacing Mark Dantonio, who left to take the Michigan State job after three seasons in Cincinnati.

If nothing else, Kelly gave his players the courtesy of a month or so's notice... Denny? Not so much...
