Erik Marschall's injury

Post by BGSU33 »

Any news on Marschall's injury yet? I really hope it's nothing serious. This kid works really hard and is our second leading scorer. I'd hate to see him exit the lineup with the team starting to put something together here. This was in The Blade today:

"Marschall came down wrong on his foot at the end of the first half "and felt a really sharp pain," Dakich said. He didn't play for the rest of the game and will have his foot X-rayed.

Ray Mernagh is reporting that a bone is broken in his foot. Marschall will likely miss 4-6 weeks.

Otis...Larson will be getting the "lions share" of Eric's minutes...I think.

Hopefully this is really a chance for Lionel Sullivan to step up as well.

SOB!!! Not good news at all, but this is exactly what I was afraid it was. Well, let's hope for a quick and healthy return. I really like Marschall's game. He sort of flies under the radar and just does what he's supposed to do out there. I love that kid’s effort and he’s a solid player for us. We're going to miss him. Hopefully he’ll be back and able to go shortly after we begin the MAC season. As much as it sucks to lose him, with such a young team (which we’ve been for about five years running), this is now a prime opportunity for others to step up and fill in. Get well soon Erik.

That is not good news...I'd feel better about this if someone had landed on him or something. Breaking bones in your feet while running and jumping may be a sign of a larger issue.

Then again...Mentally Deficient is the only MD attached to my name, so what the hell do I know?

Losing a player like Marshall really sucks...but, I'm going to look on the bright side of this. Larson, Sullivan, and Polk, are going to see a significant increase in minutes, which could make our team even deeper and more experienced come MAC play.

I don't know what it is...but there is something about this team that is special. I see it in their attitude on the court, the way they interact with each other. I'm not sure what it is, but it's good. Anyone else feel this?

I am really feeling it! Losing Marschall sucks but he will be back for the stretch run. Hope Lefeld can step up and i would like to see more of Polk. I am not a fan of Larson. How that kid got a scholarship, i have no clue. But hey, what do i know. All i know is that there is something about this team. Maybe its the fact that were a ton more athletic and actually have some senior leadership in Samarco and Lefeld. ANd we are gonna get even better when Miller gets at it.

From the first time I saw this team I could tell something was different. Something positive about the energy and the attitude. Losing Erik hurts but this will give some minutes to all of the players listed above. Nate Miller can play at Wright St., he can and will shoot and score. I saw John Floyd at the game Monday night, he went up to the press box to talk with Todd and Kirk but didn't stay long. This team doesn't need him or his slow motion offense that he ran. I really think this team could win 17-18 games this year despite what some have said. I don't think that MAC is that strong, Akron and Kent will be the class again with OU and Toledo having some good athletes that good give them enough to make a run as well. I wouldn't be surprise to see us go 9-7 in the conference.
