Didn't really come as a surprise to me, and I figured that once Ellis left that Rojas would be soon to follow. I don't think it's fair to speculate also on whether or not this was a personal choice, a coaching move, or resentment between both parties. That's not fair to all parties involved, as Flip had mentioned.

As far as their scholarships, it's very hard to bring a kicker or a punter to a mid-major school without guaranteeing them free schooling, it's just reality. A recruit can easily argue that they can go to a Ohio State or Michigan on a partial scholarship and pay the same as what BG is.

Whether the staff will get a JUCO kicker and punter remains to be seen, I wouldn't even mind them having open tryouts for students that can kick consistently. It's just sad to see that something that was so highly touted this year turned out to be a real disaster to everyone involved.

I hope GB and the staff get this figured out, because this doesn't bode well for the future.

Rojas and Ellis were here for one season and when things got bad they ducked out.....
If they were going leave at any point, then now was the perfect time since they each have 3 years of eligibility left for somewhere else.

I wish Rojas the best.

I'm on board with Flipper in that I hope the kids leaving don't have misgivings with the school itself. I had a great time full of fantastic memories and learnings. I would hate to see someone with an opposite experience.

I really wish fundamental football wasnt' such an afterthought with this coaching staff. It's hard to have sizzle when there is no steak.

As a booster, is it illegal to tell someone to not go here?

Not illegal, but certainly not in the best interest of the school either.

I wish Rojas the best of luck wherever he goes. I get the feeling that our beloved coach has totally lost the team. I expect more departures in the next few weeks, and I would not be surprised if we've got kids telling recruits not to come here (as we've had in basketball the past few years).

I don't blame these kids one bit for transferring. They came into a program not realizing how bad things really were. They got the taste of a coaching staff that appears too pig headed to correct their mistakes, and the kids have lost faith in them. The players have a pretty good idea if the team will be competitive under this staff, and I'm sure many of the have decided that they won't be. Now that it looks as though we're stuck with Brandon for at least 2 more years, I would expect many of these young guys to take their services elsewhere. They only get 4 years to play college ball...why waste them playing for a coach tey have no confidence in?

Yes, this is the easy way out. You'd like the players to rise up and try to be leaders for the team and try to win despite the coaching, but that's asking an awful lot. The group Brandon inherited was able to do it for a few years, but unfortunately the kids he's bringing in cannot.

Oh well...hopefully we'll still be eligible for bowls when his contract expires...if we're on double secret probation it will make hiring that next great coach even more difficult. It's clear we don't have the money or guts to do what needs to be done now...

I figured as much, but I was kind of afraid people might get ideas. :-)

Dakich will win more than four games this year. Plus he has a title.

I find the loss of players to be of concern. It may prove to be nothing, but its not a resounding sign of growth and development.

Perfect time for an athlete to commit to BG. You have a couple of years to work with a good weight trainer, learn about the spread, and the tempo of college football. Enjoy Sebo and red shirt a year. (not to mention the better looking babes on campus) Brandon either turns things around and the players buy in, or he goes. Either way, you are a sophomore with a good or new coach and you are ready to make a commitment and win.

Most importantly, have comfort in BG's commitment to football. Not every school would this hold true. BGSU has a history of bringing in good coaches and working towards success on the field as well as the classroom. Sebo alone shows this commitment.

And that's a good thing right! I wish Coach Brandon the same luck as Coach Dakich, especially if Dakich really has turned the corner and righted the ship on his program as I and many others suspect. I'll take the second best winning percentage in school history any day in any sport!

Just wait, the MAC season hasn't started yet, the lower half of the Sun Belt on your home floor isn't exactly top-flight competition.

Did someone say Furman, or did I just imagine that? :-D
