He's done VERY impressive things with San Diego, I was hoping we could get him on staff in some capacity at BG, given his ties, but I think he's on the fast track to be a big time HC.
I forget exactly how the story goes, but I seem to remember hearing that when he was playing in the NFL, he'd call his dad up to find out how BG did that week. (For those not familiar, his dad Jack played on the 1959 championship team.)

Well, we should very well need a coach soon. Why not start now with Harbaugh?TG1996 wrote:He's done VERY impressive things with San Diego, I was hoping we could get him on staff in some capacity at BG, given his ties, but I think he's on the fast track to be a big time HC.

No doubt. I'm with you 100% on this one. I love this site, but sometimes I have to scratch my head on why people think coaches like like Weis, Coker, Holtz, and Zook are sh*t. But someone like Harbaugh or Solich is automatically God.Globetrotter wrote:He was a decent NFL QB. It would be a good hire in terms of exposure for the conference...beyond that I dont see it.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
I don't think anyone called Harbaugh or Solich "God". Look into Harbaugh's record at San Diego. He brought them along in a hurry. Not quite the string of D-II titles that Kelly brought to CMU, but he's done a great job. No one said he was "God". Just that he could be a hire that sustains CMU's success from this year. And the name value can't be underestimated, either in that state.
As for Solich... God doesn't even LIKE margaritas...

Because he is proving himself as an outstanding football coach and paying his dues in DII. If you know that, you'd think he could probably keep the CMU program moving ahead.BGSUFootballFan wrote:No doubt. I'm with you 100% on this one. Solich, FWIW, took OU to their first football success of any kind in decades in his second year there. I don't think he's a god, but I think he can coach.

Harbaugh is proving himself in Div II. He's a former NFL player and he went to Michigan...he was a hero at the UofM. He was a very smart player and a great leader. He's the Wolverines answer to Chris Speilamn in terms of football smarts and intensity. Throw all that in with the cache that the Harbaugh name carries in the Midwest and he looks like a no brainer for at least strong consideration for CMU.
My only concern is that even if they land him, he probably won't be there long. Can you imagine how nutty Ann Arbor would get if Harbaugh eventually succeeded Lloyd Carr?

Yeah, because proving yourself in DII is way more impressive than winning 3 Super Bowls in 4 years.orangeandbrown wrote:Because he is proving himself as an outstanding football coach and paying his dues in DII. Solich did a nice job with Ohio this year, but it was in an extremely under performing divison and he got outcoached in the MACC game and by Gregg Brandon. Also I'd rather lose with Brandon, than win with a drunk. But that's just me.

San Diego is non-scholarship DI-AA. It is suspected they were given serious consideration for invitation to the DI-AA playoffs, which is unheard of for a non-scholarship team (they fell short of the invite). Harbaugh has done a great job with them. He will be a DI-A head coach soon somewhere.
