It is suspected they were given serious consideration for invitation to the DI-AA playoffs, which is unheard of for a non-scholarship team (they fell short of the invite). Harbaugh has done a great job with them. He will be a DI-A head coach soon somewhere.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up! I knew he was doing an outstanding job out there, but for some reason thought it was D-II.

No doubt. I'm with you 100% on this one. I love this site, but sometimes I have to scratch my head on why people think coaches like like Weis, Coker, Holtz, and Zook are sh*t. But someone like Harbaugh or Solich is automatically God.
Because he is proving himself as an outstanding football coach and paying his dues in DII. If you know that, you'd think he could probably keep the CMU program moving ahead.

Solich, FWIW, took OU to their first football success of any kind in decades in his second year there. I don't think he's a god, but I think he can coach.
Yeah, because proving yourself in DII is way more impressive than winning 3 Super Bowls in 4 years.

Solich did a nice job with Ohio this year, but it was in an extremely under performing divison and he got outcoached in the MACC game and by Gregg Brandon. Also I'd rather lose with Brandon, than win with a drunk. But that's just me.
So would I. As for Harbaugh, you were the one who asked why people thought Harbaugh "automatically" was God. I'm just saying that it isn't because of his playing career but because of the coaching record he is establishing.

Ok fair enough. But I'm just saying if your going to give a guy credit for that, then why not give a guy who won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years credit, or a guy who went (59-17) with a NC & was one bad ref call away from 2 NC's credit?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Falcon fan--gotcha. I don't think I've denigrated your coaches, but I do get your point. There's always something attractive in something new.
