BG could now be playing at Minnesota next year too

Post by BGSU33 »

I have a couple of friends that work for Rivals. One of them told me today that they received a 2007 schedule for Minnesota and it indicating that the Gophers will play Bowling Green next fall on the same date Pitt was scheduled to play BG. The report said Minnesota paid BG more money for the game. However, Pitt is still listing Bowling Green for next year on the future schedule. This wouldn’t surprise me at all to see us playing Minnesota next year because the Golden Gophers “are supposed” to be coming to BG in 2008. This would make sense to see a home-and-home here with them. And with the rumors flying around about the Boise State and Florida International games being dropped, it wouldn’t surprise me either if we still ended up playing Pitt, and now Navy as mentioned in the other threads. We know these futures schedules can change like the weather, so I guess we’ll see what happens. I’m sure we’ll be hearing several other teams rumored to be on the schedule before it’s all said and done. Obviously, this isn’t set in stone, but it is what they received today.
GO BG!!!

The great thing is look at the teams being mentioned...Minnesota, Pitt, Navy. These are considered BiG time schools and winnable games. I have a feeling we will open @ Minny in 2007.

Flip,
It would seem "prudent" if the article is accurate for OU to take our place in that game...after all, didn't we change our schedule this past season to "suit them"?

Freak..I respect your loyalty and support for BG football but "winnable games"? With this BG team? This Falcon team will need a ton of help if they expect to be even close in these games.... :(

Winnable games? Talk to me after the Falcons don't lose to Temple.

Yeah, thanks fred but I stick by the statement. If we can play as well as we did against OSU and Wisky, two Top 10 teams with a combined record of 23-1? Yeah, these are winnable games. Minny, Pitt and Navy aren't world beaters at the moment.

Let's see how things go in the offseason, spring ball and summer camp before we make statements like that. :-D I will never apologize for my enthusiasm for Falcon Football. Ya stick by the program thru think and thin...no matter what. I believe this program will be better in 2007 and I believe Coach Brandon and the staff are committed to that.

Certainly never apologize for sticking with the program through thick and thin. Its a good thing.

I think the rest of us do as well. The difference being that we aren't convinced this is a team capable of winning those games just for showing up, or even with the better efforts they put out last year.

I think the game at OSU was an example of two teams with no question in their minds as to the outcome. I've never seen to teams as flat and un-energetic as I saw that day. The Wisc. Game was the high-point of the season as far as effort and how close they came to winning a big game. And it was nothing but down hill from that point. Even then, the game wasn't truly close.

I'd favor BG to lose all three of those games, home or away, given how they played this year. A hyper disciplined NAVY program, with few errors, a relentless and confusing option+ offense, and a well coached defense would beat any effort the Falcons put out this year. The Minni-wheats might suck, but they'll be loaded for us after being burned by the MAC so many times. Pitt is simply a good team and I don't see them losing to us either.

I'm sticking with the program, but that doesn't mean I have to drink the Kool-aid.

Wow. Thats the overwhelming positive response that was why I did stay home after the UB game.

Truth be told, there aren't many on the BGSU bandwagon right now. And the Band wants the name of the wagon changed, they are taking it personal these days.

I don't mind people that want to be positive, it is when they, or anybody, start saying “your not a fan” or “stay home, we don't need your kind” that I really get galled. One way or the other, there are, and will always be people with positive and negative outlooks. Given that present times have both groups in close and frequent contact and debate, I'd rather people focus on that, rather than calling names, or imply lesser status due to personal views.

You know, I didn't write much about the Temple game, but I have to say that I didn't see the team quitting as some have suggested. The offense looked awful and, possibly, uninspired. But the defense played with major intensity, flying to the ball and hitting hard until the final whistle.

It doesn't make any difference if your opinion is "pro" or "con" because most of the people that have one, don't know whether a football is pumped or stuffed!
